The Tonight Show ( Jay Leno) fired the writers that were striking and now

what with the quality of his monologs they were over paid.

hopefully they will win a labor dispute. I'm all for strikes, anything to rage against the machine.

i hope for leno's downfall. being a stern fan and having watched his shit over the years, i can only have a negative opinion. he's one of the least funny dudes on the air, always has been. apparently, he used to be funny as a stand-up, but he took the tonight show in a fucking gay-ass direction. carson was fucking dope. leno's a worthless piece of shit.

"He could've at least covered us through Christmas. That would have been nice."

Ummmmm, you're not working but expect to be paid anyway for doing no work?? WTF? Where can I get a gig like that?

My sentiments exactly, if they dont like the current conditions or wages change careers... The Unions are the most worthless organizations in the US. Granted when they first came on the scene in the 60.s it was a much need entity due to no gov regulation on hours, benefits and chain of command.. however in this day in age they pay the union for nothing more than to protect the deadbeats that belong to the unions, that do not want to work and want to complain about everything...

having worked union and non union i can see your point. we have this one millwright in our shop who is 68 with asthma and god knows what else. he is totally weak and good for fuck all. it would be ok if he had a sharp mind, but he doesn't even have that. drank his life away and now quit about 10 years ago. he shows up and does nothing at all. nothing. and we all have to work and you look at him stealing a check. its sickening.

but i still am pro union, i have a high wage and benefits because of it. if it wasn't for the unions i would make less money and have no benefits. just the way i see it.

are they even allowed to hire "non union" writers? I know alot of hollywood is starting to move to Canada because they don't have these union problems. Yet the union guys make more money in Canada on average.........so wtf? I don't get it.

they are pissed off because they were fired.. What a bunch of morons, they should have known if they continued the picket line that they would be fired however they have turned it around and blamed it on Leno. Unreal...

You may want to reread that article. It is not the writers that were fired, it was the staff. Those would be the people that do all the grunt work on the set. They were fired after Leno told them their jobs were not in jeopardy due to the strike.

They got caught in the middle between management and the writers. It is unfortunate.

I didn't read the article, but the news showed Leno walking with the strikers on the picket line supporting them when this all went down a few weeks ago. He said they needed to be treated more fairly, get paid more, etc.. So, he personally was backing them, at least at that point.

Is this why 'Bill Maeir' (sp?) and 'Tell me you love me' isn't on anymore? wtf? I watched those shows.
