The POP Heard Round The Gym

A better question is why did it not have adjustable racks so all lifters could get into the position they wanted. Tall people like Hannibal were fine, but short people had a tough time of it.

One 16 year old 148er who I lifted off for, literally had no chance to get the bar out of the rack, and we had to deadlift it off to him. I had the same problem but with almost twice the weight as the 148er had on the bar. Not a good bench at all.

The top of it was slick, like Spatts has said, as well. But what can you do?

Well, the vid isn't working, but I can say it scared the hell out of me!

I was spotting the right side where it popped, and when it happened, I thought..."is this really possible?" - It was almost surreal. Anyway, glad Hannibal isn't hurt.

Also, if you guys remember, I was spotting Hannibal at the last meet where he decided to throw 450 on his stomach.

So Hannibal has no consecutively scared the shit out of me in two straight meets.

I double-checked the vid, and it seems to be working. Try a right-click, save as. It's interesting to watch.

I'm really glad he wasn't hurt. The way his arm moved when the shirt popped was scary.

That sucks -- next time tell your lift off guy to get his damn hands on the bar when he pulls it out for you. That is NOT the way to do a lift off. You are setup to miss with a lift off that way.

Look on the bright side, that "POP" could have been a shoulder or pec tearing away from the bone. Luckily it was just a shirt.

You live to fight another day!!!
