The thing I love about the Leafs is that they are always a contender when it comes playoff time. They just play tough.

I saw a handle of games at Maple Leaf Gardens (though none at the Molson Center, or is the Air Canada center???).

Anyhoo, I saw a couple of classic Sabres vs. Leafs games while I was in college in the old Aud in Buffalo. Nothing like feeling the floor sway under you to the movement of the crowd.

Detroit sucked pretty hard in the 70s and early 80s.

They were baaaaaaad.

I grew up watching them on WKBD TV-50, Detroit.

Things started changing after Yzerman showed up.

I miss getting Hockey Night in Canada. Where I grew up (Upper Michigan) we'd get it (think they still do). Awesome show. Don Cherry is an interesting dude...

thats funny you mention leaf sabres games.....cause i am not allowed in the HSBC arena anymore. I beat the shit out of two sabres fans who were like 2 times my age last week when the sabres beat the leafs....im not a mean guy but they fuckin deserved it......fuck looking back i really pummeled them.....right in the stands too....it was on sportcentre highlights in canada.....as i fought them in the stands as the game was going on. we actually rolled down the aisle as one guy jumped on my back. I got cheered as i was escorted out it was pretty funny but i had like 12 in me so its something i normally wouldnt do.

Don Cherry is a Canadian National treasure. That guy tells it like it is. I would love to be able to wear a shirt and tie like that guy does.

Let me preface by saying they probably deserved it. Buffalo fans have a notorious history for being drunk, stupid, ignorant, assholes. They even irritate me sometimes. In fact some Buffalo fans remind me of Rob Ray....Useless, but entertaining in a fight. So you can see why I am upset he is leaving.

I wish I had seen that footage, what day was it? Don't have the schedule available. I know they played Thurs and Sat of last week. I usually watch them when I am out on Friday nights, but went to see Flogging Molly last Sat.

bud if you only knew the half of it. I basically went up with about 400 other leaf fans on a bus tour. It was last thursday. I go to about 10 away games as the ACC is a bitch to get tickets. yeah i tried to get the security footage as the security were the coolest people from buffalo in that place but they wouldnt give it to me. We rolled down about 20 stairs. You should have seen the horror on the faces of the buffalo fans i looked like a leaf jersey wearing devil or something.....it was howls.

Its surprising how ignorant the fans were... totally disrespectful. Detroit is the only place in the U.S where the knowledge of the game and respect for visiting fans is great....chicago wasnt bad either. I would have expected that shit in columbus but not buffalo/

I totally agree with you. Detroit being one of the original 4 makes sense for the ...."honor" of the game. the same with Chicago, there is a loooong history of hockey in that town as well. I can't imagine seeing a west coast game (in the US that is). That has to be a really....interesting crowd. Sort of wonder why the Kings never got to be as good as they should have been (though I'm not a big Barry Melrose fan).

Have you seen any Rangers games?

Any Rangers games in NYC? That is a great trip...IMHO.
