DXM has been around for awhile.. when I was in high school, normally the kids who couldnt get ahold of any acid would do "Robo" ...

Not my cup of tea.. plus it tended to make me break out..

The new drug craze would more likely be the tryptamines, DMT, 5-meo-dmt, dipt, etc... Some are very hallucinogenic, others similar to X and lsd mixed... most of them created by Shulgin, who discovered X... most of these are legal and can be bought fairly cheap on the net..

another wacky drug is Salvia.. it is a legal plant that when smoked correctly, will dissolve all ego for a few minutes and you will be in another world mentally.. Salvia is gaining popularity but wouldnt likely be used as a recreational drug since its effects aren't likely to be habit forming or "enjoyable"

yeah, although i don't remember a lot. i had an enormous amount of dxm by accident actually. i took twice as much as i intended. and i realized it after the fact.

it was actually pretty fucking scary. i was listening to the soundtrack from the movie Dead Man. i'm almost afraid to listen to it again because it reminds me of the craziness. my eyes kept closing involuntarily, so i would get hit instantly with the CEVs, and i couldn't tell the difference between them and reality. i didn't know my eyes actually closed until i opened them again, then i would snap back into "reality." this was just within the first hour and a half, and then it really started gaining momentum. and i layed in bed to try and just chill out. the CEV's started, and then i saw myself laying there and i was pretty sure i was dead. it didn't really phase me though, but that's just me. then i was out on the street outside my house all the sudden and talking to a girl whom i hadn't spoken to in years. i don't really remember the content of our conversation, but that's irrelevant because it never really happened. after what seemed like an eternity, i was trying to escape from this false reality outside my body. it was really fuckin scary because i couldn't move at all. finally in like a burst of energy i got my eyes to open and i was back in my room, my heart beating like crazy and in a cold sweat.

i don't know if it was like the "normal" OBE people claim to have, but i refer to it as that because i completely imagined a reality outside of myself that seemed much more real than any dream.

Pige is right, you only want a variety that contains JUST DXM.

All the other cough ingredients can fuck your body up or kill you, at very least cause nausea. DXM by itself doesnt do this.

Never gone above 12oz of Vicks 44, but have done 8oz on a few occasions.

Physical effects: Painkiller/oxycontin-like, definitely decreased sense of touch or pain...it is a disassociative

Mental effects: None, at lower "plateaus" or levels, DXM really doesnt cause mental effects

Other effects: Your pupils will be OBVIOUSLY dilated. Even 2 oz of a cough syrup (not enough to get high) will have your ass looking like you were just doin some lines or youre on shrooms


At higher doses, DXM is reported to have effects similar to Ketamine.... I've never done ketamine or a dose of DXM big enough to feel out-of-body.


And remember...
DXM + Yohimbine = Olney's Lesions (brain damage)

DXM by itself probably doesnt cause much, if any, brain damage. Even if it did, it wouldnt be in the short term. However, I'd recommend against anyone doing it daily or even once or twice a week.

i tried it once 2-3 months ago. that's what being without weed did to me. also, i wanted to give it a try for the experience, because my impression was that it's fairly harmless to try once, at a low dosage. i ended up taking a whole (4oz ~ 360mg DXM) bottle, but not all at once, because i wasn't sure if i needed all of it. all i wanted was a nice state of euphoria, which made music enjoyable (basically, a 1st plateau, as i understand it). the thing about DXM is that the experiences vary considerably (from what i've read), based on your dosage...higher dosages correspond to higher plateaus, each with its own character. after 2-3 hours of taking the first dose, i was feeling...inebriated. put on some orbital, and it was good. i felt "zoned", with a sort of body buzz and elevated heartbeat. couldn't fall asleep until around 11 am. i don't think i'll try it again. i just want some fucking weed.

i wasn't going to post this, but then i saw pigeon mention the movie dead man. fuck, that movie in itself is a trip...especially that electro-distorted-twangy-repetitive guitar soundtrack. i can only imagine what that movie would be like on a heavy dose of DXM, but i get the feeling it would be...heavy.

i'm done with the dxm i think. after that experience it was never the same. and i can't stand how it dehydrates me so much anymore.

lol well i don't know if that experience really changed my views on life after death. i mean it could just be explained as chemicals fucking with my brain, but it definitely was surreal. i guess i'm pretty open to life after death anyway.

yeah man it was fuckin insane. neil young did the soundtrack, and on the cd there are tracks of dialogue between Blake and Nobody cut from the movie, and some of Depp reading William Blake poetry that wasn't in the movie. the swells of sound and intensity that Neil Young used to accompany the scenes is amazing on dxm.

i actually robotripped one final time after this experience, and i was at my friend's place and he put the movie on. it was too much for me and i had to leave.
