The NEW deadlift....

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
I went to the US Pro Qualifier for the WSM this past week and had a blast. I have a pretty cool video of the axle press and the deadlift...

Schoonfield has always had problems with the deadlift so I guess he found a new way to deadlift it...lol. Remember that there aren't many rules in strongman...haha...just any way possible.

The video is MUCH better than the pics...lol. Not for sure what this lift is called...but we might re name it the Schoonie... The weight was 780 from 15" and it took him nearly a full 60 seconds of pulling to get it locked out...

That was awesome. I have seen some major hitching at WSM but that is definately a totally new lift.

As an aside, I think powerlifting should go to the box system in those pics for deadlifting, then maybe just maybe I could get a double bodyweight deadlift in. Arioch, could probably go quadruple plus with that setup.

I love the fact that strongman has few rules. Gets the guys to show some ingenuity like Stumpy using the ring for the Africa stone. Smart. Find a way.

Going from 15" is not easy for sure...very hard. It becomes a stiff leg for MOST everyone there...

I have some more good pics...I'll see if I can post them later.

He basically jerked it up and then pulled it over his knees. Then, he sat it on his knees and rested for a second. He would then row it in a bit while trying to stand up..over and over till it was a finished deadlift...

I was thinking it was 9-11" from the ground for some reason...not sure why.

When doing the Africa Stone (Hussefeld Stone) he used a piece of tape to make a ring. He could not lock his hands so he made the ring and grabbed onto it with each hand...MUCH easier to hold onto. The contest will be in Malaysia this year...so I don't think that they will have the Africa stone there...I liked the Hussefeld Stone MUCH better anyway...much harder too...
