The Longest 8 Minutes of my Life...Waiting for the FIre Trucks

Man, what a weekend. My daughter comes in and says she heard and explosion. Where was it inside or outside and she didn't know my wife runs up stairs and says, your motorcycles are on fire. I run up to the garage look through the glass and fire is touching the sheetrock in the garage totally ingulfing the chopper and the cruiser looks about half on fire. I look and say man, I can't put this out. So I run in(still in my underwear) call 911 and then go down to put my jeans and shirt on(still barefooted) tell my wife and kids to get out of the house and go in the smoke and fire filled garage to see what I could do. The garage door was hanging half off and I see 5 gas cans by the motorcyles so I grabbed them and ran them out to the curb made three trips back into the garage getting them.

I am freak'n out seeing my dream bike go up in flames and then it hit me my house is going to go next. Waiting there in the front yard seeing all those flames going out of the garage I was in shock. Seeing a bunch of flashing lights never looked soooo good in my life. They get there and the guy starts to run the big ass hose through my front door I yelled the fire is only in the garage and they said we know what we are doing. So they get it out and I see my bike the it was all sheet metal paint burned clean off the the alligator seat is now only a metal pan. The back belt is melted to the sproket the tire is half melted off. The right side of the bike is black like the whole thing was powder coated that color.

Then I look at the Indian and the seat is melted off causing some brown goo to ooz all over the back of the bike. The battery is just metled into the oil pan and the tank is split into where the center plastic piece held them together use to be.

I look at the gsxr and the back fender is all melted and the seat was half burned off.

I dipped my head and just stayed that way for about 10 minutes.

They finally leave and I was scared to go back to sleep and about 4:30 (the first call was at 1:30) I smell smoke again go outside and see fire going through the attic vents in the garage call 911 again and they come to find the attic was on fire. So they rip open my utility room and find where wires had caught the insulation on fire. They still till daylight this time to make sure the fire was out. Call State Farm and the good neighbors claims office is closed on sunday. I told them I was naked in the front yard and they gave me a claim number. I said thanks I will right it on my bare ass with some soot. (I was pissed and messing with them.

Couldn't sleep in the house because the smell was so bad check and having no power(fire men cut the power do the wiring) so we check into the the hotel. Now I am sooo excited I get to deal with adjusters all this week. Progressive made me make three claims on the bikes instead of one. And I wonder if my home ownders is going to absorb if all or if the bike insurance(if the cause) will pay for my house. Anyone know?

Anyway got to be one of the worst nights in my life.

That is most unfortunate, curling. I'm sorry for your losses (especially your bikes), but glad that you and yours are safe.

What caused the first fire in the garage?

Totally sucks, but in the big picture, you're lucky noone got burned.
Was someone smoking dope in the garage? Your daughter saw the fire first right?

MAn, I don't know for sure. The fire investigator(was initially sent out do to arson suspicion since the garage door was knocked down) though the indian started it. But after the second fire started further back in the garage attic because of bad wirres) away from the bike heat. Now he was wonder if it started from there. I more experienced investigator is coming out to look at it again today.

Damn, C, that really sucks..... Glad to hear everyone is safe....

Sorry to hear that big C. Hope you can take some comfort in the fact that you and your family are safe.

Charred Body Of Chain Smoking Boyfriend Found: Curlings Daughter Tells - He Was Waiting For Daddy To Go To Sleep

oooooohh!

On a side note, I hate it for you curling, I know how much you loved those bikes. How long will it take before you can replace at least one and start riding again?

Also, I picture curling on the front lawn jumping up and down going "dang. dang.. hey get that fire house out of my living room.. oh... dang dang."

Sorry to hear that. Count yourself lucky that your daughter heard the explosion in the first place and you all had a chance to go out. About the bikes, don't worry man, you can always fix them, count what matters.

sorrry to hear about this .. Hope all goes well and fast and everything get replaced quickly. hey hey hey at least no one was hurt.

WOW, that sux bro.. I"m sorry to hear about the fire(and loss of bikes) but at least everyone is safe... Good thing you got those gas tanks out of there or things could have been a lot worse!!!

Damn! The only thing that will chase that smell away is fresh paint.

Glad you can find some humour in it curling. I hope your coverage takes care of you man. Glad you and your family are all healthy and fine too. :0

Call me Muhammad because I see 3 brand new bikes in your near future..

Lets hope the insurance man doesn't bust your balls on the coverage..

How was the movie Fat Albert? Did it suck as bad as this fire ?

A couple of days out of the house.

The smell will take about 6 mnths to get rid of.

damn, C, that is most harsh... glad to hear your family is fine.

Insured to hilt on those rides, I hope?

sorry to hear about that...

Now they have kicked me out of my hotel. I can't believe it. They over booked and the girl at the front didn't mark it on the computer that we were suppose to stay longer so they said we have to leave. I would have normally blew my top but I am trying to be a better Christian. It just didn't make any sense to move me to the hotel next door than the people that haven't even check in yet. But they would be common sense which I don't think exist anymore.

I always heard that they couldn't move you luggage anyway even if you didn't book another night. So you could stay as long as you pay.

I expected to come into this thread to find that Curling accidentily caught himself on fire and was running around the yard flailing his arms in the air screaming for help. Come on, it's curling we're discussing here.....

On a serious note, that 100% blows Curling. Really sucks to hear what a hit you took on everything. You and your family are ok though, that's what counts the most. The bikes can be replaced (although I'm going to shed a tear or two if you tell me it was an old Indian, those are classic).

Good luck deaing with the insurance company. If they start presenting you numbers you don't think are right, talk it over with a lawyer. Insurance can be a bitch sometimes because they don't want to pay out.

Hang in there..... you'll be back on a bike before you know it...

Thanks crak. Naw it was an 2001 indian spirit. Man, i hope they total that bike since they are out of business again trying to find parts an all. I hope the labor taking it down to frame to paint and going through the engine and tranny will be enough to total it. Maybe I will take that money and trade my old lady suburban in for a new one since progressive wouldn't total it and it hasn't ran right since.
