Chesty, my wife's dad started building a relationship with here when she was 25. He had to work to become a part of her life, but he did. He was thoughtful and consistant, and the love he had for her brought the two of them together. My wife died very young. Prior to her dying she made a list of the top 10 best things about her life. Her dad made the #2 slot on the list.

(He could have made #1... but I beat him to it.)

Chesty, I will tell you like Vix did---You are a good man. That is evident from your letters.

As long as you keep the attitude/outlook that you currrently hold in this situation---you will be fine.

As you know, my family is going through a very tough time. I feel that if my dad could remian optimistic and believe that things would work out and set an example of sacrifice--that everything would work out. I pray that he will. He is a great man(my father) but like you, he is in a tough situation--(although not the same as yours)

I hope so. I have had my doubts in the past. I am anxious for her to get the letter and give it to the kids. She may be lost, but my daughters are not. At least yet.

You have led an interesting life. You have done lots of interesting jobs. But what is this cop out stuff of not being the right father figure? Anyway, perhaps you can make ammends now. I never knew my father - it's not a good thing.. All children should have a father.
