Sorry Alcatraz, I know you are gonna hate this, but that knee last night represented Hawaii so fiercely, I think now with the rededication, he's gonna steal GSP's title if GSP makes it past Jon Fitch... GSP is so kind, respectful, technically proficient, yet I have no love for him... don't know why, just don't like the dude, don't hate him like Matt Hughes... but digressing, Pride of Hilo is gonna take back 170 title... :chomp:

care to change your mind bro? lol

Adam West :)

In every way :)

He got beat by Tito but I agree. Pride has 10x the amount of quality fighters as the UFC does. Pride also has a better set-up. The UFC is just running things here in America a lot smarter right now...

Silva got beat by Ortiz on points in UFC. However, they follow the ten point rule, unlike Pride where fighters are rewarded and encouraged to fight for a win (the Gracie Sakuraba fight comes to mind). Ortiz was a hair away from getting knocked out.

My vote is for Silva also. His overall dominance, longevity, and the intensity of his style is incredible. ANyone who is interested should see the training video of him on youtube where he runs a long session with his nose sealed closed and a snorkle in his mouth to restrict breathing and thus increasing lung capacity.

That said, MMA is a style-oriented sport and some people match up differently to others. Silva's crushing KO's of Jackson were followed by a loss to Liddell (who lost to Jackson himself). Anyone of these top guys can deliver, the reason Silva stands out to me is his incredible win streak in Pride where he beat some of the greatest fighters in the world.

Joo Bang Lee or Possibly Eric Lee.

Best fighters in the world fight to kill Not choke you until your tap out.

Art of War is the art of winning and the truest fighters don't compete in glory fights. Bruce Lee would rip todays MMA fighters apart. Lb for lb he is still considered one of the strongest men to ever live. From what I have read that is. He was benching well over 200 lbs at 135 lbs. Chuck Norrise.. Round house clocked at over 100 MPH to my understanding. Bruce Lee's Punch in a few movies required they increase the speed of the film to catch his fist moving. Later he just slowed down his punch when they were filming. Fast hands...how does that help in a fight? speed increases impact by a multiple. If you take a bullet cut the weight in half and double the speed the energy is increased 4x. Ergo why those skinny guys with boney knuckles hurt like hell when they punch you.

Oh and these guys. Were smashing peoples sturnum's au natural. Intense training. Life long dedication that MMA and UFC and Pride fighting does not allow for. Why? because you live your fighting style that way your body falls apart. It cannot maintain.

My vote is also ( I need to look him up) in the 20s there was an Irish or Scottish guy 230 bare fist fight wins. Heavyweight champ undefeated if I remember. I will google it and see if I can find his name.

Hal Bagwell 180 fights 175 wins 2 draws and 3 no decision.

This is before gloves were as soft as they are now.

And Lastly sorry to get back to this thread so late..John L Sullivan

shake the hand that shook the world!!

His fights lasted 2 and 3 hours.

You wanna throw tito in the ring for 3 hours and see what happens bare knuckle?
