LOL at all the clowns that voted for Bruce Lee. The bitch wasn't shit...friggin movie actor. He's right up there with Steven Segal and Jean Claude Van Damme for credible fighting ability.

Although I agree Bruce shouldn't be on list, as I said on my post above...i would hardly go where you did about him. He was a martial artist unlike Segal and others. He was actually a Mixed Martial Artist. He took styles and used techniques from each in a time that was considered a no no. Was he the toughest ever? Hell no, but he was an asset to Martial arts and the opening of minds amongst it. He used his own moves in the movies. Watch Game of Death and you'll se a Armbar attempt,Sie Choke,Thai Clinch, etc. The skills we use today. He even used alot of Western Boxing. Was he a badass fighter....who knows? He was a streetfighter, so he put it on the line. I would give the cat some respect though. I don't know how you couldn't.

From the given options, everyone hypothetically in their prime, and I believe the question was 'street fight', I'd absolutely have to go with Bas Rutten. 7 votes!!! hahaaha. The Lethal Self Defense vids are the greatest. I'll try to post up a link if I can find one. I truly admire this guys style. The Bas Rutten System, incorprates a lot of Krav Maga, good shit for the streets.

Rearnaked, you're right.

I forgot about Rutten. He was the baddest mofo around.

I listed Mike Zambidis- pound for pound, but in a no rules street fight, its Bas Rutten all the way!

Like - HAVE ANY OF YOU EVEN COMMITED YOUR SELVES TO THE ARTS?
THE DEADLIEST MARTIALIST - MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW...AND IF YOU DID, IT WELL MAY BE - BECAUSE YOU'D BE DEAD..! ha haaaaa

Marciano...only one of the bumch undefeated but not as important as this: He is in a differnt league because he did not have the capabilty to tire, especially given that he would attack every second of every round. Tyson on steriods and blood doping, plus much more. I`ve researched him and all his fights.
It is not humanly possible to continue at his pase without loss of strength or fatigue.
He trained on steak juice...spitt out the steak because he didn`t want to gain weight, just increase power. He has that in abunadnce too. Tendon strength to the extreme. I`ve written letters to many who knew him because I feel he was on some kind of substances for sure. Just watch and watch his fights. He is too scary. Only way to beat him is knock him out in the first round i feel or you will be dead later.
He had secrets to this...not just training because that cannot give you what he had. Somedody chemically enhanced him. Do you think that he had the knowledge of steak juice consumption on his own? He was not a scientist.

WELL ... Thats weird Reasoning , but I DO feel that certain Boxers are Overlooked because in their time only Boxing was really Prevelant . Guys like Marciano , Dempsey , Foreman and Ali would have made AMAZING MMA fighters ! Each has showed the Wits , skills , strategem and Heart to endure in ANY Ruleset had said Ruleset been the one they trained in . All have also taken OVER 100 challengers . I think that the History of Boxing is forgotten too often , and ppl write these men off because the TIMES only ALLOWED them to train to fight with their Fists . I think we forget that MMA is still Illegal in my state TODAY , and we blame this on the Fighters of the era , and not the laws and post victorian hogwash that they were restricted to . Had they been allowed a ground game they would have been forced to train Judo , etc .

America had shootwrestlers during the first half of the 20th century, Karl Gotch probably the most famous. I wonder what is different about modern times that is allowing a similar sport such as MMA thrive where shootwrestling never seemed to make it.
