Looks like the meds are helping this time.
Laying the laminate, patching/ painting I got solo no worries.
You may be called to help finish the basement though, I still have to test the leads and find out where the short is down there.
You can help me with the garden beds and shoveling rocks and laying sod this spring though. Also cutting the rails off the deck and refinishing plus sinking a fire pit.
I'll call you too carry the hot tub in for sure lol.

Better numbers man hope the trend keeps up.

Hell yeah, I might actually have a job by then (or maybe not). But I'll still lend a hand anytime I'm able to.

Cheers,
Scotsman

damn that is an aweful high bp, although you already know that...How the hell did you manage to get it so high?!?! Shit, listen if I was you. No more fatty cake foods!

Just got back from a follow up today.

BP is down to 128/78.

Had to donate some blood and have a return visit in a month to do it again.

Too bad for those of you that voted for me in the dead pool lol.

Doc ruled out RAS too.

Better than mine (134/78). Good for you!

Good. Must be genetics then.

Glad to see your blood pressure under control. Too many people don't realize the implications of high blood pressure (kidney failure, congest heart failure, heart attack, stroke, blindness, etc.).

Yeah thanks Mom and Dad! Hopefully I can avoid inheriting my father's diabetes too.

Thanks again for all your help Doc, I really appreciate it.

dood I think it was going to the range which saved you.

Certainly helps. I need to get my double taps down better though. Off-hand shooting may make my bp rise again, I shoot like you do when I go off hand.
Only $3/day now at the Firing Line. Planning on going Friday again. Looking for a Dillon xl650 deal so I can save money reloading.

Man, I'm sorry for your problems. I feel bad now because I just got pretty good news on one of my many health problems. Hang in there and do what it takes to live long.

The two-toned is around $600.00

I'll ask Mike to be sure though.

Did you look at them at Jensen's, I seem to remember them under $500 last I looked.

Cheers,

mountain muscle said:
Jensens is around the same price. 559 is what Mike told me at firing line for the 2 toned.

I haven't looked in a long time, but they used to have a combat kit that included a holster and tac light for like 550.

Swatdoc or GD,

Why does my Altace say not to use a salt substitute? I'll be the first to admit I am salt addict. Been using seasoned pepper, which is actually pretty decent. Just didn't understand why I can't use a salt sub with this medication??

http://www.jesshall.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_24&products_id=37

Got it from Red Iron Pump and Supply as a promo thing. We get all kinds of stuff in the patch lol. Give it a try if you are cutting back on salt too.

Salt substitutes usually contain potassium. ACE-inhibitors decrease the amount of potassium excreted in your urine, so if you eat a lot of bananas, tomatoes, potatoes, or other potassium containing foods or supplements, you could become hyperkalemic (high amount of potassium in your blood), which can make your heart stop.

For most people that have normal kidney function, this shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as you eat in moderation those foods high in potassium.

Hypertensive Crisis is the Dx.

I finally broke down today and went to the doctor to get some meds for this sinus infection.

Going through all of the usual tests she takes my blood pressure.

All she says is "wow". Tries the other arm, this time silence, then "excuse me" with a solemn look on her face.

Comes back with another doctor who takes me for chest xrays, straps me up to an ekg and wants me to fill a cup.

Apparently, my BP meds aren't doing their job. 190/154

So I got new meds, have to quit drinking, change my diet to try and get it under control or she said I would be dead within a year.

I love doctors. To top it off my back is all tweaked out again and my arms are getting tingles and going numb. Good times.

If you go to the chiro, check with him about this also. They can carry good supplements which can help with this a LOT. I have a ton of info here for that, let me know if you want it. If nothing else, for the information...

Any information is always welcome.

I have spoken with the chiro too. He wants to do a blood test as well and talk about homeopathics to help. He and I have discussed it a bit.

this thread: high blood pressure. He's seen a doctor and on meds. Looking to hear other's experience.

clear?

I dont get it stilleto.

maybe if you showered once in a while, you would.

Mountain Muscle, I just got back from the docs. The diovan did bring my blood pressure down to ALMOST normal. It was 140 over 80, but I have a horrible cold and took cold medicine, so that may have effected it.
He's keeping me on the diovan, which costs a fortune.

Not sure if I mentioned it before, but the best supplement to take is Coenzyme Q-10. It not only will help prevent heart failure, but it also lowers your blood pressure. Just make sure you start out with 30 mg daily for a week, then double it, etc. until you're at 100-200 mg daily. It can cause some severe stomach upset if you go straight from 0 mg to 200 mg daily.

A diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and low sodium is key. It will not only control your blood pressure, it will also reduce your risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, etc. independent of the blood pressure reduction.

Despite what many people think, there is clear evidence that our diet does in fact affect our bodies. Poor diets during childhood and early adulthood predispose us for developing a myriad of diseases, and sometimes those diseases cannot be corrected even by correcting our diets once the disease process starts. Blood pressure, however, is not one of them. It is highly doubtful you will completely eliminate the need for medicine given your blood pressure was so high, but you can at least improve it by eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Simple low fat doesn't lower blood pressure. So if you're eating lots of protein but little vegetables, chances are it won't help your blood pressure.

Finally, be careful of chicken. Canned chicken is known to have a lot of sodium, but even fresh chicken is often injected with broth to make it more moist. This introduces a lot of sodium. It's hard to find chicken that's not been injected, but it is available (and expensive). What's worse is that the government doesn't require manufacturers to list the amount of sodium once they inject the chicken. Rinsing it prior to cooking will help remove some of the sodium, but not all.

That's good news Stilleto. The BP not the cost of the meds.

I don't think the sinus infection is gone yet. It is getting annoying. They took my temperature and it was at 95.8 I think I am one of the undead now.

Oh, then you must feel as crappy as I do. I'm coughing whenever I speak, and I have a fever too. I was in the doctors office with sweat dripping down my forehead. The nurse said my temp was 99.4, but it felt higher to me. that was after 3 tylenol.

anyway, I have to restrict my salt a bit, which isn't easy. apparently, i love salt.
I haven't read the rest of this thread- did you get your BP down?
