The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness

The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness, Revised Edition

Has anyone here read this and practiced the SEAL routines? A friend of mine has this book or a similar guide for SEALs and said earlier that one of the exercises is to swim 4 miles in open ocean without stopping.

Sounds pretty rough. I recently ordered the book and I'm going to check it out for myself.

By the way, anyone have Adrian Weales' Fighting Fit? It's the SAS guide to physical training and I've heard that it's a complete workout program instead of emphasizing the upper body like the SEALs. If anyone has this book, would you sell it? I'd like to get it. It's hard to find at Barnes & Noble's or Amazon.

What are you trying to accomplish...endurance....mental conditioning......strength...are you trying to...Shoot...Move...and communicate?!..........are you prepping for some sort of training indoc.....

The Book

Hey, I ordered that along time ago, not to make you disappointed but its not that good. Just lots of bodyweight exercise routines you prob already know. Some of the workouts can be hard but most just made me feel like i was going to make the cover of Anorexia news. If you can cancel your order in time. Ill send you my book. Anyways best of luck.

It usually consist of alot of routines that will accentuate the ability to pull through as a team or make up for the weakest link it also indoctrinates the ability to challenge you mentally or better yet prepare you for the worst.......hell these individuals gentleman have been put the thru extreme rigors when I mean extreme these guys are known to have thrown up underwater during advanced levels of WSQ (Water Survival Qualification) so as to "Not let the enemy know that you are there".........

It's probably too late to cancel the order. I ordered six books from Amazon on April 1.

The Art of War - Sun Tzu: In Plain English by Sun Tzu
The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi
The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness, Revised Edition by Stewart Smith
The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
Strategy by Basil, Henry, Liddell, Hart

As for my goals, I don't really have any. I do full body workouts on Tuesday/Thursday with a cycle of Hydroxycut.

Seeing as there's no guide to NSA/CIA fitness, I'll have to suffer the SEALs/SAS guides. :)

By the way, I suppose I just want a monster workout without going to the gym.

well if your not already swimming/running then perhaps do a search for Navy Seal warning order. written by same guy, Stew Smith. If you can get through that. then cia/nsa physically will be a breeze. mentally is a whole other game

what is your current routine, specifically?

I don't have a strict lineup for the gym I go to currently. It's so limited! Anyway:

Upper body
20-30 mins at the dumbbell section doing various exercises: curls, pec flys, and a few other "exotic" exercises (can you believe they have no barbells??)
15-20 mins on the bike (i don't understand those electronic things. it asked me for a level 1-20. i put 10 but i had no idea what it meant. i also monitored by heart rate the whole time. i kept it at around 148-150.)
sidenote: i tried the sitting row but it just wasn't comfortable. i wasn't sure how to operate it either. yea, i'm pretty clueless when it comes to cardio equipment.

benchpress & incline bp
shoulderpress
lat pulldown
hip rotator (works abdominals)

i used to do the lower back extension but i'm already doing the maximum on the machine there at 295lbs. so it's pretty useless to do since it's so friggin easy.

supine leg press
leg press
leg raises

there's other leg equipment there and i do use them. the names aren't coming to me tonight.

i had an awesome hardcore total body workout routine setup for me a few months back. when i got into the gym, i found out i couldn't do half the exercises. my friend works out at 24-hour fitness so i'll probably go there. he's training to be a SEAL, to be in UFC, and probably some other action careers.

World's Wildest Streetfights Volume 2
He's in there! LOL. He thought it was funny too to purchase a video at Sam Goody and find he's in the video.

If you want to see him in action, get the video (dvd), and watch. Or check out the short preview of the entire video. His segment starts at 0:36. He hospitalized the guy on roids in less than 20 seconds.

btw, i'm not swimming or running. i'm not comfortable on the treadmill and running outside... it's too hard to control my pace outside. the bike is comfortable for me except for the fact i need to wear tighter underwear... if you know what i mean. i don't look good without a shirt on so i don't swim anymore. last time i actuall swam was when i was taking swimming lessons at age 6 and graduated top of my class. it was great. i had a "swordfish" rank.
