The best time to do Cardo for fat burn, and minimum muscle loss.

What do you guys think is the best way to lose fat through cardio without losing much muscle. I heard in the morning on an empty stomach. I was wondering if immediatly after your workout, low intensity, because your blood sugar would be low and you would probably be in fat burning mode by the end of your workout.

When do you guys do cardio, and how do you time your meals around it?

One more dumb question, Everyone says that you cant gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. What I would like to know is if you eat healthy at slightly above BMR and did cardo in the morning on an empty stomach, theoreticly you would burn fat durring your cardio, later in the day you would have the surplus of calories after your workout and hence they would be used to repair and build muscle. If you keep you diet very strict wouldnt you be able to gain muscle and lose fat?

From what I've read, it doesn't matter when you do cardio, just that you do it. I've also read morning on empty stomach, which I cannot make myself do no matter what.

So, I do mine after work & usually walk/run to the gym & walk/run home so I don't have to spend time on the treadmill.

I also eat something around 3pm & then when I get back from the gym (7:30-8 pm)

Doing cardio at anytime other than with an EMPTY stomach w/little or no sugar circulating in the blood, is totally counterproductive to fat loss.

U can burn "calories" during cardio, but those are calories that should be used for REPAIR and growth, not to fuel what SHOULD be a FAT burning session. Tapping into fat stores during cardio only happens when there is little/no sugar present in the blood.

So, when you do cardio is of the upmost importance actually! If you want to burn fat, u do it at one period of time in a certain state, if you want to just burn calories and lean muscle tissue, then do it any time of day.

No thanks! ~SC~

For my goals and with my dietary approach (anti-catabolism if of the upmost importance) I currently hit 45 mins daily first thing a.m.

If you're trying to drop bodyfat w/ maximum use of internal fat store, you're looking for a time where your body is in a semi-catabolic state (close to ketosis) that would allow for maximum fat-burning. Most of the time, near Ketosis would mean in the AM (morning), so one of the better times to do cardio is in the AM - especially when testosterone levels are higher.

For your second question, losing and gaining are impossible to do at the same time, unless drugs are involved. The problem is that if you bulk you need to eat above BMR and if you cut you need below. If you do cardio while bulking and burn the extra calories, you're still not gaining.

What drugs will let you gain muscle while losing weight, or at least not let you lose any muscle at all, Im up for something mild.
