Testing in Police Academy

I use this site for doing a lot of research and I'm having a tough time finding some information about steroid testing for new admitance into the police academy. From what I've found on the net is that they only test for recreational drugs (coke pot speed amphetimines) and not gear. Anyone have any experience with this. The only reason I ask is because one of my close friends approached me about his upcoming cycle and the time he has before he starts the police academy might be an issue. I had no idea so I figured that people here might know.

he plan's on doing a cycle of test prop/winny cycle for 6 weeks. This is for the New Jersey Police Academy.. so if anyone has any info let me know
 
depends on the police dept -- for instance NYC never tested, now after a local scandal involving juice and cops they apparantly will do random and "for cause" testing.

I'm sure you can get the info from human resources or the recruiting office -- just ask anonymously lol
 
99.9% he will not be tested for roids pre employment, it would cost wayyy to much money, the drug screen is given before the actual academy, which most police academies have about a 60% graduation rate from the academy,, that would = lots of wasted funds that most pd's dont have...
Now for the bad news, most pd's will administer a polygraph exam and they will ask steroids, and if you try to read up on all those how to beat a polygraph websites,, welllll they ask about that too... poly boils down to hocus pocus garbage, but most pd's still use em.. that should be your buddies concern, not the drug test....

however for the physical he should be off everything for a while b4, because although they will not check hormone levels, they check everything else, meaning high red blood cell count high hdl ect. ect.

good luck to your [cough] buddy though, i think it is retarded that pd's are even worried about steroids you would think you would want an officer with an edge against all the doped out,
cranked up on speed perps that they have to face every day.....

tell your buddy stay clean for a month or two b4 the physical, and to just relax for the polygraph, all the poly senses is stress so relax........

that should clear the system fairly quickly. he should be worried about polygraph though.

umm,, thats why i said dont worry about the actual drug test, worry about the polly... if you want to get specific b4 every polly a questioner is given to fill out and they will ask about EVERY controlled substance you can think of, and depending on your answers in the questioner they will form thier questions..... but ALWAYS a question asked is " have you been completly truthful in your answers'" or along those lines... then if it comes out inconclusive because of that answer they will either keep going there or schudule him for another more intensive poly..
 
Is this to become a state police officer or just a municapal (city) officer? If its just city then there might not even be a poly given. My friend is about to start an academy in pennsylvania to be a city officer and they only check for rec. drugs and theres no poly.

Yep, in 1979 that's what they were doing as well... :mix: I made a certain assumption that the policy was continuing..

I do know that Homeland Security will use certain "relaxants" before they administer the test.. but that's another subject completely..

My father is an instructor in N. Jersey (i will not disclose where) I can tell you he has told me of one instance where someone was booted out of the academy for juice. BUT they will only test for juice if they suspect you are on something. It is a huge cost to test everyone of juice. It is a normal I believe 11 spectrum drug test.
Outside of that it all depends on where he gets hired. They do it by random systematic lottery. You will get a call and they make you go right that minute for your blood work. A buddy of mine got tested 2 times in 4 month and other then then he has never been tested and he has been on for quite some time.

Lil advice dont be superman in there...you go in doing like 5 pull ups and you end doing 30....ding ding ding...
 
My buddy just became a cop but I'm not gonna say where. He has done plenty of controlled substances and when I asked him what he said in the polygraph he told me he "lied his ass off". He still made it through. Not saying that this is the best advice just saying.
 
They may not test for it, but they wil certianly interogate you for it. To become a cop in Canada anyway you must undergo a 4 hour polygraph, and youll be asked if youve been in contact with drug dealers, have done ANY drug within 'x' amount of time, etc etc.

They will base alot of the polygraph on your interviews to see how full of shit you really are.
 
When I got out of the Army my goal was to be Secret Service so I took a job working for a pretty big police department here and they didn't test us at all. Our street crime unit was all juice heads and assholes and everyone knew it and turned a blind eye to it until some got in trouble in a steroid ring and then they tested all of them and got rid of the unit. I only lasted as a cop for 6 months cause I realized I hated cops because most do the same crap they arrest people for and are assholes.

They also gave me a polygraph test and when they asked me if I did any drugs before I said no which was a lie. I don't know if they knew but they still hired me!

lie detector "testing" is prohibited from the workplace in Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and New Jersey.

I know that the NJ state police doesn't poly but i don't know about the rest of the state. I don't think they do, but i could be wrong.
 
I've always wondered about the poly and if their real motive behind it was to just see if you were a truthfull person. I mean, what if you were 100% truthfull and did answer yes to all the drug questions, if you really have done the drugs they poly you about. Would they care about the drugs like everyone is worried about or would they just care that you were 100% truthfull?

I'm not sure I thought I was done and wouldn't get the job after that but they kept moving me through the process so I'm not sure what they were looking for. That damn psyc test was a trip!
 
If you are above 26...you should get on HRT therapy...then no need to lie....well..past would screw you on the poly though.... unless they have year guidelines..ie...7yrs for past drug use.

I read an article that the FBI changed their year parameters since they couldt get enought applicants.. I think maryjane use went from 10yrs to only within the past 5yrs...something like that...

you think they ask you these questions being recently or in your life?
i'm not planning on joining the academy or a dept for maybe 4-6 years

same goes for the ones that use to come into my bar after shift throw back a few pitchers, watch the game, then drive home
