Tennis elbow

I've been diagnosed with Tennis Elbow. As a 36-y-o weightlifter this has gotten me more gnarly than a 300lb grizzly awakened from hibernation. My doc prescribed novomethacin (50mg) 3x/day. I've been on it for nearly 2 weeks. It hasn't worked -- yet. I've iced the affected area endlessly. Physiotherapy twice a week (ultrasound and IFC) hasn't been effective at all. As far as training goes, I'm training legs only and am juice-free for the winter months. Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what have you done to get yourself back into the gym and into a regular routine? Any help would be really appreciated.

The best thing I have found for mine is mixing DMSO with Theragesic ( an aspirin based cream from the drug store).
And rubbing it into the elbow area.

For me, the pain in my elbow has gone away completely.
I can't say the same for the tendinitis in my bicep though.

But at least I can work my upper body again.

my elbow is a mess...go out and get one of those tennis elbow straps for your for arm...and use MSM

I have a knot in my elbow and just lift through the pain

To ice properly, you just want to reduce inflammation and flush the area of built up fluids. To ice properly, you need to ice for 4 minutes on, then 2 off. Repeat this 3 or 4 times in a row and do the whole thing 4-6 times a day.

I have the same problem with my left elbow. Back off on the dumbbell curls, and do more stabilzing movements such as concentration, and preacher curls.

Lighten up. On the weights that is. I've had that problem in most of the joints over the years. I've used everything that man has created. Well, maybe not everything. These days all I take is aspirin and concentrate more on the concentration of the muscle and try to ignore the 'manly' weight thing. The other thing I do is make my own equipment for my own specific use. I don't use 'over the counter' triceps bars and the like. I bend my own to the exact angle that my joints like and screw an eyebolt into the center. That's a little simplistic but you get the general idea. I'm 53 now and it seems as thought the equipment thing becomes a limiting factor as I age. Most equipment is like a 'one size fits all shoe' where they stuff some paper in the toe if it doesn't fit. But if you go to a commercial gym you don't have much choice. I started years ago collecting a personal assortment of machines that 'fit' and felt good on my joints. I still have some funny 'snap, crackle, and pops' in my knees during the warmup period while doing squats. No pain though, and it goes away after a couple of sets. But I think that's probably from eating too many bowls of Rice Krispies when I was a kid and some kernels got lodged in the joint. Just kidding.

I have the same problem in my right elbow and it is a pain in the ASS!!! I would definitely recommend one of the straps, that seems to take a lot of the pressure and shock off my elbow. I also only lift a moderate amount of weight when I emphasize the muscle (curls, bench, etc.), except for maybe once every two weeks I will push myself. Still hurts, but a lot less and I am able to maintain a longer work out.

MSM!!!! My elbows has been killing me for about 5 months and I
have rested it for 1 month, iced it, motrin it, and light weights.
Nothing work. After 2 weeks of taking MSM one elbow is free of
pain and the other on has only half the pain.
