you need to ask him. that could be an issue, especially if you are taking meds to offset a thyroid imbalance.

what doctor is going say ok to that?

its not about yes or no, its about what the ramifications would be. your on t-4 for a reason. supplementing with t-3 will likely have an impact of the t-4 substitution. you may need to change your dose. if you werent on prescribed thyroid meds id say do what you want. you dont want to fuck your thyroid up forever. that would be real bad news.

T3 and T4 have a ratio relationship in the body. If you are already on T4 for medical reasons I would say that you need to stay away from T3 unless you want to take a chance of really fucking up your thyroid and the thyroid is not something to mess with.

All the T4 in the world wont do you any good because your body can only convert so much of it to the metabolically active T3 anyway. 90% of circulating thyroid hormones @ any given time is T4 which only exerts approx 1/5th the effect T3 does.

...Talk to your doctor, and maybe try getting a script for cytomel instead of thyroxine.

jroc brings up some things to think about. With some conditions such as an autoimmune disease or Hoshimoto's Disease for instance, you can take T4 like popping candy out of a Pez dispenser and it won't feel like too much of a difference is being made, and, therefore, T3 could help. When dealing with the thyroid, it really is best to consult with a doctor or an endocrinologist because too much T4 and T3 can really upset the cardiovascular system.

It really depends on if your thyroid is functioning or not
Taking thyroid hormone due to a condition where you hypothalamus - pituitary - thyroid negative feedback loop is simply not functioning , then there may be no harm in adding T3. For people who have had thier thyroid removed, then I also think that you may not have much to worry about

The issues are
1. side effects from the thyroid drugs which can be worse then the conditions they were meant to threat
2. shutdown of a perfectly working thyroid

If one and 2 can be controlled, then y all means , add some synthetic T3
