Supplement Direct's response to my letter.....

Here is what I wrote Supplement Direct about 3 hours ago regarding their dextrose:

"Ok, I've always used Protein Factory's Dextrose. I've seen alot of posts
on message boards about Supplement Direct's dextrose, so I thought I'd give
it a shot. Well, it gets here and I'm looking at the big jug and I notice it
says there are 75 grams of Dextrose in 1/3 of a cup. Hmmmmmm, ingrediants
say 100% pure dextrose. WELL, my dextrose from Protein Factory, says its 40
grams of dextrose in a 1/3 of a cup. Hmmmm, ingrediants also say 100% pure
dextrose. What gives? If they are both 100% pure, then how can they have
different ratings for the same measurement? Not only that, but almost a 50%
difference in rating? Are there any fillers in Protein factory's dextrose???
If they are both 100% pure, then for the same measurement, they should
contain the same amount of dextrose correct?"

Their Response to me:

"The 1/3 cup is not an exact measurement. It cold eaisly be between 1/3 and
1/2 cup. It is pure dextrose no fillers. We will correct the serving
suggestion on the next printing of the label.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks

SD"

So let me get this straight. Lets say I buy some vitamin B, or c or whatever, and there is so and so amount of ingrediant in 1 tablet or pill, its ok for the company to print that there is X amount in that one pill, but in reality I might have to take two or three to get the advertised amount. Yeah

That being said, I'm not going to be purchasing ANY more products from Supplement Direct. Ever.

lol, ur an idiot

a cup isnt a serving size so how could u even begin to try and compare.
u need to know things in standard measurements like grams

Water content (not as an "added ingredient," but I assure you the powder is not completely dry) and the particular granulation of the product can account for such differences.

As silent method, moisture can play a role, also the product can settle as well so a losely packed packed product wont have as much content (ie weight wise) as a heavily packed product.

Grams is a measurement of weight. Moistue and Cosisteny can effect amout per volume, but that dosen't excuse mislabeling.

Sounds like Supp. Direct even admits they were wrong.

Come on, guys! Empty Wallet is CORRECT and Supplement Direct is WRONG!!! The topic has been discussed numerous times. Lucky Dog, from the Ana Sci board weighed their product several times with a digital scale. This is what he came up with- 1/4 cup=35 grams of Carbs, 1/3 cup=47 grams of Carbs, and 1/2 cup=70 grams of Carbs. You could use a +/- 5 ratio, but that's just nitpicking. That's it!!!

I didnt say anyone was right or wrong just that when dealing with this stuff there is room for fluctuations.

Oh my goodness. You know what, there are so many flames on here nowadays, that I'm not even going to go at it with you. I'll just swallow up what I have to say and that will be that. I will say that you can do a search on the subject, to see how ignorant your response was. There have been plenty of people who weighed it, in your "grams" measurement, and Zyg, Lucky did several, if not at least 10, different measurements, each time packing as much of the product as he could into the 1/3 cup measurement, and he never got near there supposed 75 grams. The highest he got was 50 I believe. Zyg I appreciate you responding the way you did and not throwing me in the idiot category like this other bright individual I'm responding to now.

I don't think some people in the UK even know what a cup is... I've read threads on muscletalk.co.uk where people were asking what a cup was and others were describing it like it was a cup that you would drink out of.... "about that much"... no exact amounts... the shit was actually kinda funny. Just in case some of you don't know, a cup is 8 fluid ounces and the mass depends on the density and as mentioned earlier, moisture can play a key role in affecting the mass.
