Strange snacks

I watched last night as my husband dipped a pickle in peanut butter and ate it. This is one of his favorite snacks but boy do I hate kissing him afterwards. I was wondering if anyone else had "non-traditional" food combinations to share.

I used to like dipping pickles in yellow mustard, but that's not so weird is it?

Wow, I'm stumped b/c I eat weird combinations of things everyday that I can't think of one right now. I combine a lot of my leftovers and eat any combination of foods. I had mixed some pasta into a brocolli and cheese soup and today added spaghetti sauce to THAT combo. Not bad, but I tolerate a lot of weird flavors. Snacks: I'm pretty sure I mixed yogurt and something odd the other day.

My pancakes can be a mystery sometimes. I'll add flaxseed, oatmeal, greek yogurt, nuts, protein powder. Whatever I find in the fridge. Sometimes they taste pretty good and sometimes they need a lot of syrup--sugar free of course.

That is actually not a bad snack. I take the yellow out of a boiled egg and fill each half with peanut butter.

i like toast with peanut butter and ill cut up banana throw some slices on top. ill top if off with some honey and wash it down with glass of milk.. 2% of course

That idea has crossed my mind since I do not eat the yolks. I need to find a quick way to hard boil eggs.

After the water starts to boil it takes 13 minutes. I usually do it when i am doing something else anyway and just make sure to look at the time.

Butter on cheese? I'm not sure if that makes me nauseated or hungry. My roomate in college would make french fries, melt cheese on them, and then dip them in mayo. Tasted good, just too much fat for me.

french fries with mayo and frank's red hot sauce is delish

Woke up from a nap at my in-laws today and I was starving. The only thing left over from lunch was watermelon. In keeping with this thread I put some peanut butter on it and gave it a try. It satisfied my hunger but I wouldn't recommend it.

Just watched my husband put mayo on his butter beans. Not sure that is a healthy way to eay your veggies.

Cottage cheese with celery finely chopped and mixed into it on a cut. When not on a cut, peanut butter mixed into oatmeal.

Anyone ever try peanut butter on pizza? pnb melted so it was a huge mess, but yuuummmyyy!

Tried peanut butter on tomato slice and give it a thumbs up. Peanut butter on pizza....that's too strange for even me.

I think Ive heard it all now ;)
This is a interesting post,,keep em coming folks!

This is a good thread. Everytime someone posts a not-so-common food combination I think of the movie Elf w/ Will Ferrell. There is a scene where he mixes all this food (spaghetti, cereal, syrup, etc.) and then starts eating away.---LOL

I saw this on Man vs Food and tried it for my son and several of his friends. I wrapped a Nathan's hot dog with a slice of bacon and then fried it on the griddle. Not healthy, but very good. This definitely counts as my cheat meal for the week.

Ever try a Texas Tommy.
Below is a recipe for Texas Tommy...enjoy!

1 lg Hot dog

1 Square white American cheese

2 sl Bacon

Split the hot dog down the center, and lay cheese inside. Wrap the hot dog and cheese in bacon and secure with a toothpick. Drop the whole thing into a deep fryer. It will sink in the grease, and when it floats it's done. Serve with roll and favorite garnishes.

P.S. I have never tried one

?? srry im a nasty mofo.

anyway i LOVE putting peanutbutter on my chocolate chip cookies. YUMM!!

Back from August vacations so I thought I would post another strange snack. My husband takes a can of Campbells cream of chicken soup and mixes in two spoons of peanut butter. He doesn't heat it up or add water, he just eats it. I think it smells horrible but he loves it. I married a strange man.

healthy:

pb sandwiches with chicken "buns"
pb+sf jam in oatmeal
kashi golean+yogurt (regular or greek style)

not so healthy:

hot sauce on pizza
meatballs sandwitch on prosciutto bread

My husband actually got me into working out and then into lifting weights. One of our great joys is being able to work out together. He is not as serious as I am currently but he stays in decent shape.

As for his strange cravings, he says growing up he would just open the fridge and eat what was there. I would like to say I'm used to it but he still suprises me with the things he will put together. Today he wrapped a piece of sliced cheese around a pickle.

I put a handful of spinach in my protein shake before I blend it, that's about as strange as I get.

Whole lotta peanut butter lovers up in here :lmao: I'm more of a mustard/horseradish person, sometimes I've been known to add mustard and even horseradish to cottage cheese.

Try mustard on a tomato.

I thought I would bring this back up. I love to see what people eat. We were at a restaurant and they had a deep fried hot dot stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and covered with blue cheese dressing in a giant bun. That was my husband's meal. I had a grouper reuben. Fried grouper on rye bread with cole slaw and 1000 island dressing. Mine was good, husband regretted his later that night. (In case your wondering, this was our cheat night).

I also like seeing/hearing about the different food selections that people choose. Your husband's meal sounds like a Texas Tommy (minus the dressing).

I'm the "Healthy" guy at the office; everything I eat is "strange".

The strangest thing I'm known to eat, I suppose, is french toast "fried" in USP mineral oil... Don't ask why, but I love it.

Thought I would bring back this thread. I made Kale chips today. I spread olive oil on the kale then sprinkled it with nutritional yeast and parmesean cheese. I then baked them at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Not too bad for kale.

Made tacos tonight. Used lean ground beef, lowfat cheese and substituted plain lowfat greek yogurt for sour cream. Add lettuce, tomato and sauce and it was pretty good.

Rebecca D

I know plain Greek yogurt can definitely be hard to get down for some people with the tanginess. I like adding cinnamon and honey. I also find dipping chicken in honey to be pretty good as well. Broccoli raw with peanut butter is a go to on my cut whenever I crave sweets. Where would I be without peanut butter?
