ok, i've got a cardio question. i was readin some muscle fitness magazine a couple months ago and there was an article that rated alot of cardio equipment. anyways, the stationary bike was rated as poor. it's not really that bad is it? it's the only kind of cardio that i ever do. it keeps my heart rate up. i'm not exactly sure how high it's supposed to be, but i rode teh bike for an hour friday morning and it stayed around 140-150 the whole time. but, is this bike just a waste of my time or what?

It just depends on how you use it. A lot of people in gyms sit there and casually pedal for an hour wich is worthless in my opinion. I use it to keep my bf low. I do interval training but use the resistance to raise my work effort not the pedal speed. I can get as good of workout on that as I can on anything.

It's not a waste of your time at all. The whole point of cardio is to get your heartrate up. You're doing that. So you're fine. You've found something that works for you, something you like that you can stick to. That in itself puts you ahead of 90% of the population.

Remember, muscle mags are really paper infomercials. You are drawn to them by the perfect bodies you see. They then proceed to present advertising in the form of "articles."

cardio and bike

Personally, i like sprinting the most. It works out the WHOLE body. But I think the key is to vary. Keep you rbody on its toes. DO Jogging on one day, then Stationary bike on the other and then sprints and then stairmaster....shit like that...vary it..dont let your body get used to one exercise!

Does anyone else sprint?

well i'm not really looking to work my whole body with cardio. i lift weights for that. but i think i might switch sometimes to either a stairclimber or elliptical thing. running is out of the question because i can't go for more than like 20 minutes at a slow pace without stopping. but i don't mind doing the stationary bike...i can study or watch tv while i'm doing it.
