Starting on Anavar with a few quest.

My husband told me that I needed to post on here to get the right info for me. He is a frequent poster but I know that we don't have the same needs and that has been my biggest problem. I seem to follow whatever plan he is on and it never works for me. At least the way that I want it to. I want to start on Anavar but I am not certain how I should take it and what type of diet I should follow while I am on it. I'll tell you a little about myself so maybe that will help.

I am 5'7" and I am 172 (unfourtunately). I am wanting to lose as much body fat as I can with out getting all freaky about working out and diet. I do need to have some normal days in my life. I am not certain what my BF is at this moment but the last time I was check it was around 24%. I am able to gain muscle mass very quickly but the fat never seems to go away. When I train it is with my husband and I try to lift pretty heavy. I am not scared of muscle mass but it just sucks when you can't see it through the layer of fat on top.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

yep diet and forget the var

AAS is NOT a fat burner. Men in particular can use it and get leaner but this has more to do w/ the fact that AAS is testosterone and doesn't affect men as intensely as it does women, and also women just have to deal w/ estrogen related fat. Further, any hardening effect you might expect from var won't really show if you are a higher level of bodyfat. And finally AAS is a ONLY a SUPPLEMENT to an already well-established diet & training. If you gain muscle easily, the var isn't really goign to help you get to where you want to be.

I suggest you take a look at the "are you new to EF women's board' sticky on top of this board --- can you post up the diet & training, get the bodyfat done and we can start with making some suggestions to help get to where you will be achievign your goals. The var just isn't goign to get you what you want without a 100% tight diet & training so don't waste your money or put the additional stress on your body.

I guess what I am saying is that I have no idea what to do to get myself to lean out. I hit weights 4 times a week and do cardio at leats 4 sometimes 5. I don't have time to stay in the gym for 2 and 3 hours but I do as much as I can. Obviously my diet doesn't work, I mean look at how much I weigh. I know that everyone is diffrent but there has to be something out there that will work for me. They say that muscle burns more than fat but mine doesn't seem to know that saying. I am one of those body types that has to work to lean out. I have never been able to do that so I guess I am doing something wrong.

I don't spend hours in the gym every day either...but I watch what I eat and that makes all the difference.

What is your current diet like? Break down an average day.

Raina has it right.. for most people diet is key..

read the stickies at top of this forum and try to eat according to some of those suggestions

I really have no issue with people using AAS if they're completely informed and their diet and training are already nailed down. But I think people underestimate the power of their own work.

If you're really kicking your ass (and you don't need a zillion hours a week to get things done in the gym) and your diet is really great (and you're honest with yourself about your diet) you can do way more than you think you can on your own.

Repeat the above -- start at that sticky & if you can provide the stuff asked for in there we can start breaking down your diet to get you where you need to be. It is 80 % diet. Always.

Don't forget too that the cale can lie somewhat....I'm only 10 pounds less then you..same height...19%bf and wear a size 9/10..3 kids and almost 40....so you can't go by weight alone...get your bf tested so you have a base to work from....

Hello & Welcome!!!

Do you switch your weight training method around?? Like perhaps go to high reps and low weight for a few days and switch back to heavier weights and lower reps??

When do you do your cardio??? I noticed that doing cardio first thing in the morning (on an empty stomach) is great to tap into your fat storages!! and if your not a morning person, if you do cardio for 20-30 mins right after weight training your body goes into fat burning mode!!

There are so many other ways to deal with getting rid of bodyfat rather than just pop a pill. The women here on this board really use different techniques before going off and poping a pill in their mouth to solve problems.

Also a good majority of us are competitors, so if you see posts on how we kill ourselves @ the gym and perhaps are taking some form of a steroid, I assure you its with proper training, supervision and dieting, not a quick fix!!

So you came to the right place and dont hesitate to ask further questions, we are just really into our well being and the safety of others.

Ischia

P.S. Sorry if anything I wrote sounds a little corky but I am carb cycling and my brain is a little slow today.. ;) .. NOT FOR LONG>> CARBING IT UP AGAIN STARTING TOMORROW!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEE (Sorry I get excited when the starchy carbs are put back into my diet again.. :p )

I checked out some of the diets and my hubby was right here with me. He said that he was going to be doing something similar for himself but eating more of course. I am scared that I will not be able to stick with something so strcik. I know that I have to kick my butt to get what I want.

Gymgurl I feel that I am a hugh sloth looking at some of these pics. Thanks for telling me how close you are to my size. You look like you are in great shape. Of course my hubby doesn't see me as a sloth.

Ischia I just switched this week to lighter weight high rep. The last few weeks I was going pretty heavy. I don't do cardio in the morning. By the time I get myself and the house together i have to head to work. I do about 30 mins on the bike after weights. I am usually waiting for hubby to finish chatting with the guys so that we can go. That is usually around 5 in the evening. I think the thing that kills me is that you guys make it look so easy. When I try to do things it never really works out as good.

Rhealite, its okay to feel the way you do!! This is not easy, its not suppose to be but its not suppose to be a total drag!! I got into weight training not because I wanted to lose weight and look good but to get rid of a lot of stress I was having. I enjoy working out!!

Going to the gym should be an enjoyment!! :) and you dont have to be on a strict diet!! Most of us are on a pre comp diet because we need to get to a low body fat to compete but trust me we dont stay like that all year round its not healthy (especially for women). You should be cautious of what you eat however, this will help you with obtaining quicker results. However, we cant help you pin point problem areas unless you tell us what your current eating habits are!! Simple things such whether or not you eat breakfast in the morning, the type of liquids you consume (juice, water, soda, coffee) how many times a day you eat?? The types of meals?? do you eat 5-6 small meals or 3 large meals?? do you know what the carb, protein, fat ratio is in each meal?? Do you know where you stand with your daily caloric intake, is it more than 1600 calories a day??

Fill us in and i promise you, loads of answers will be sent your way!! The main thing is to stay focus and make this a learning & fun process, otherwise you will just get annoyed and give up!!! And please keep in mind that it takes time to develop results like the one you see here on the board but its not impossible!!! You can do it!!

I hope you find my post to be encouraging!! Dont give up!!

Thanks Ischia! I just get a littel down on myself but I know better. I have been working out with my hubby for 9 years and I have just watched myself grow. I love all of the muscle and the way I feel once I have finished a workout but this damn fat is still here. This is not an exact everyday way of eating but here goes some sort of idea.

Brk
Portein bar or Protein smoothie or 2 eggs with a slice of wheat bread and a little salsa for flavor

Lunch (the time depends on if I have clients or not)
Turkey subway sand on wheat or a sand from home or a lean gourmet dinner. Like I said this depends on how many clients I have that day as to what I eat.

Snack
Lowfat Yougurt with wheat germ or a piece of fruit

Dinner
some sort of meat
brown or wild rice
a veggie

I drink mostly water during the day but I do drink at least on glass of herbal iced tea. I am trying to get back to taking a fat burner but w/o the ephedra is just doesn't work. My job requires me to be sitting for most of the day but I try to get in as much movement as possible be it in the yard with the dogs or at the gym. I hope this helps a little more.

in all honesty...on that diet as written...var wont help at all imo

Ok, then what do I need to do. That is where I am runnig into my porblem. I have no idea where to start. I know that I can't do what the hubby is doing with diet and exercise so I an trying to find out all that I can before I get started. I mean I still am working out but the diet is the main problem area. I have been on fitday for a few years but I need to know the number goals that I am going for.

10-12x bodyweight on cals with a 40%P/30%c/30%F is a good base to start form

I agree with Shadow. Use www.fitday.com to keep track of your %ages.

And don't think that everyone has always been all leaned out either! Trust me....we've all been the "before" picture before. Heck, I have been that way in the last 6 months but have gotten more back to normal primarily with my diet.

Ok, I understand the P,F,C ratio but the cals are not going to be to high? I am looking to lose right now. I mean the cals would be at 1700. Is the number you gave for maintaining or losing?

Repeat! Dont' anticipate things until you know what you are really eating! Everythign contributes to your progress -- the p/f/c ratio, the total cals, what those cals are, what foods you eat together, when you eat them.

Lets get the numbers first and go from there!

When I started my Project in Jan 05, I was eating probably 1700-2000 cals a day. As a base, I used the 40/30/30 combined with a diet/training Program, and eventually added additional health supplements from the AF Store...

I cannot stress how important it is to get your diet on track = #1 DIET

Thank you. I truly appreciate ALL the compliments as if they were the 1st ones and I am VERY sincere & serious about my log (sometimes too serious but hey, it's my life & the way I manage)...

Seriously, for years...YEARS, I did not give the diet a second thought...and finally I just TRIED the 5-6 meals a day, eating every 3 hours, added my great diet/training program (Thank you Shadow), a few supps (Thank you AF Store & Ulter) and BAM...it worked...who knew?!

P.S. Again (multiplied by a few mill) I Love the people I have met here and how helpful/supportive everyone is...every little bit counts

OK, I have looked at Shadows workout summary and the diet and I printed it to see about giving it a try. I am a bit concerned about not have a large variety of things to eat but I saw your pics Bunny and they look great. Granted I am no where close to that the plan must have been something good. The plan that he se up for the workout goes on a weekly basis right? I just printed off the first post and then noticed that there were more later in the thread.

The diet and plan are basic. The Shadow Project thread outlines several weeks of different training routines, giving you a little something different each week, helped me from being bored. There is TONS of info on her to help start you attain your goal, but the Project is outlined for you if you're looking for something to follow right away.

The 'Project' should be tweaked to the individual as well as your goals, and I would suggest adjusting the meals to meet your needs (within REASON). I am VERY picky eater, but generally, you can switch out some of the foods (i.e. I hate tuna so I eat chicken, maybe brown rice for crackers etc). Also, be sure to schedule a reward meal once a week to keep you sane and your body satisfied to avoid binging :chomp:. If that happens, brush yourself and start again....

The ladies can make a TON of suggestions no matter what you choose to do. Be sure to read ALL the Stickies that Sassy kindly posted up top ( u Sass) and ask away.

Best of luck :rose:

Can I ask how long the training program is for? How long b4 you started to notice a change? It looks like you were in really good shape when you started.

The original program started in January & runs for about 12-14 weeks? Your progress will be sort of dependent on you and your body, but generally you should start seeing results within the first 1-3 weeks. Like we've said, you may or may not see the scale move, but you should notice two things - feeling more energy and probably notice your clothes are looser, i.e. bodyfat dropping. It takes you a few weeks generally to establish the habits that make this whole process easier and more predictable and also some time for your body to adjust to the changes.

Well, I think I jumped in at week or two/three...but there's enough workouts (weekly) from January until April 11th, by that time you should be able to be on your own.

My pre-project stats are posted on the 1st post of my log. Before that, in Nov/Dec 04, I was 185+, and I'll just say those pics I posted were the 'good ones' at 171 lbs, so I'll STFU & take the compliment.

To answer your question, Based on MY own personal results, the weekly changes were there, which is why I posted my week to week stats with pics, body fat %'s and measurements. However, I cannot say that will be the same for you, and don't expect to see results overnight, because there is NO quick fix.

You can do this naturally and IMO, you should. I will tell you that you should see some major changes if you clean up your diet, add a good training routine (several outlined on here) and when you're ready and have a set schedule, you can always add some supps from the AF Store.

Hope this helps...

(Be sure to address any underlying health issues as well)

Well phooey. I just spent the last 20 min digging thru the archive trying to find the thread about how much total weight / bodyfat was lost by the EF Ladies board, several of the girls following the Shadow Project and it was significant! Rest assured that a diet & training program executed with 100% consistency and patience will produce results, often when you least expect it.

Thanks guys. I just had to get my head out of my butt and make some sort of decision. I know that we are all different and it may take me some time but I have got to do something. My genetics are not the greatest when it comes to being lean so I am going to have to fight that but with your help I think I can do this. I will also be doing this with the hubby so that should make it a little easier. It sucks when one of us isn't eating very clean. It really makes you want to cheat. He has a way of pushing me b/c he has known me long enough to push the right way.

I hope to be back soon with good news about myself but until then I am going to keep reading all that you guys can dish out to me. Thanks again and this isn't the last you have seen of me!
