ST PETE lift openers????

hey guys i wouldn't wanna work on any really heavy singles for deads b/c i'm going to that meet march 16 now a month ago my best was 365 i didn't go to failure i think i mighta been able to go 375 at the time my best good morning was 175 for a triple last tuesday i did 195 for a triple. Do you think if i go for 405 at the meet i'll be pushing it too much????? I plan on opening with my old record 365 is this smart. I really don't have anyone I train with that will know about this stuff so I'm asking on here. I have no idea what I'm going to open with on bench b/c I don't know if I'll have my shirt in on time and I don't know what I'll do in a shirt since I've never worn one if I don't have it and go raw then i'll most likely open 245 then 255 and go for 265 Is this a good idea.
My best pause last week was 250 and I got that easy at least I thought i did I wasn't even pumped I know how to get pumped for my meets but I just got lazy and didn't do it.
 
For the shirt you willl just ahve to wait and see if it comes; for the deads open with something strong like 350 then PR with 375 380 and then go for broke 405. I'm still thinking about what i wanna oen with myself. I'm thinking about opening with a Pr of 485 and then going 500 and 525 but i might just want to open with something i know i can get like460 , shit i don't know what the hell to do.
 
not fighting with you or anything and i respect your opinion shooot ur pushing bigger numbers than me but if I know I can do 365 why shouldn't I open with that.
 
open light -- it's your first meet. I would go even lighter than what grimmer is saying -- 320, then 370-390, then go 405. You gotta get in the meet first. Your opener, when planned right, will be a confidence booster. There is nothing like having to grind out an opener. What will you do next if you grind out 365?? Number one your confidence will be gone, then you are not going to want to make a 5lb jump from yoru first to 2nd attempt.
 
OK so then what if I do like 335 then 385 then 405 is that good. I'm already making map plans and lookin for hotels up there to stay. Although I was lookin in a ST PETE book I didn't find fergs sports bar&grille is this where the meet is gonna be at. I didn't find the 54th ave gym either on the AAA book(trip guide). Oh well let's see what happens.
 
One more thing when I go to warm up what should be my last warm up I was planning on doing for deads 135X1 225X1 then 275X1 then jump on 335 when I go to open. and for bench I was gonna do barX5 135X4 185X1 then with whatever I open if it's raw or with shirt if I'm "feelin" the shirt.
 
Yea, you should not open up with your best ever gym lift. Open a little lower with something you could hit on a real bad day. Get that out of the way and then have some fun. I am not a seasoned veteran, but I was very happy with the weights I opened up with at my meet and none were PR's. My buddy however, shot a little high and had some problems. Seems like the veterans suggest to get on the board and then set some records. Good luck!!
 
I know it sounds retarded to open with something that you can do pretty much in your sleep but like they said its more of a confidence booster, i'm having trouble doing it to. You will probably wnat to warm up more for dead 135x3 185x3 225x1 275x1. You still want to be well warmed up for it. the y won't tax you that hard and should leave you with about 10 minutes before your openner to fully get ready
 
Thanks IRBD I know I can do 335 in my sleep like GRIMMER put it. Thanks GRIMM I knew I woulda listen to you guys we're there but I just wanted to have somewhat of an idea. Does my bench warmup seem good.
 
Hey Cubanito there right. Open light. Hell i am openeing 50 lbs under my max in an loose shirt, just to get a lift in. See the point? Get in and destroy that weight. Then you will feel strong and destroy number 2. Then go all out (realistic) with a pull you would like to get. Do it like you bench. Your not gonna open with a PR.
 
well i usally open with 395 but thats me. if i was you i would open with 355. then just go for some PR"S. bench open with like 230 or somthing. its to bad your in florida. i would like to come train with you. i hate training up here. you do something new and people look at you like your retarded and ask questions.
 
so your saying for my pause I should open with 50lbs under my max. WHOA ok I was thinking like 25-30lbs under, but not 50 that's alot.
 
HEY WAIT FORGOT TO SAY I gotta problem I have to lift next wednesday b/c coach needs me to lift in 181 so what am I gonna do I was gonna do my last training day monday. I have to pause and clean&jerk. he thinks i'll pause 260 and clean&jerk 185 and take 2nd place in 181 weight class. So what am I gonna do. I have that meet Saturday of that week.
 
Do we have to deadlift off of mats???? I just made reservations tonight at the La Quinta Inn in ST PETE it should be on 54th ave N. I wanted it to be somewhere close to the meet and the weigh in. So i'll be weighing in at 5p.m. fri anyone else gonna weigh in early.
 
Cubanito i didnt mean to open 50lb under your max on bench. I was giving you an example of getting on the board. There is some platform there it might be thin mats but i thnk its justthe platform.

I would skip wed meet at school. Dam ST PETE meet cost money and your going all out for this meet, ya might wanna take it seriously. And chill that week some. But it sup to you.

Yea, tell your coach to stfu because he is a dumbass. How can he expect you to compete twice in one week?? Are you Superman or something? Meets are so brutal on your whole system. I had my meet on Saturday and din't get back into the gym til Wednesday and that was DE bench day.
 
I know I'm trying to get outta this meet for the life of me, but the thing is where I'm fucking up is that I keep asking him for help with cleans and everytime I get better or I do something right like throw my pecker through he thinks I'ma do alot better and take 1st or 2nd place and score some points for the team. I mean I think it's fucking gay all together hell every wednesday we go against the same school our rivals. WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT OF THAT. We're never gonna get stronger in fact we'll get weaker. So i'm trying to get one of my friends that trains in there to compete and I'll do the wednesday after that just to make him happy. :angel:
 
Aigh it will be good seeing you before hand. I have another problem now I didn't get to train today and tommorow is not looking good either. If anything I'm going to have to do just DE bench/deads tomm and maybe something for tris and lower back and that's it til Sat.
 
I'm in the same baot. I've been on spring break and away from a gym for the last few days and misssed both important workouts this week. I'm gonna just go into the gym and do dynamic work maybe five sets of two for both bench and deads and then some light tris and back workand thats it. Do not train to hard. You want to be 100% on sat morning so you will only havea few days to recover and you need at least 5 so take it easy. I'm going in to train tommorrow morning and then sitting in hottubs and hot cold thereapy all week long.
