squats with no pads

This week ive started doing squats free bar, without any neck pad. I can squat more, go deeper, and keep my back straighter without the pad. Suggest to anyone to make the leap and ditch the pad.

Good point, I've never used one as it messes with my center of gravity by putting the bar too high up on my shoulders

You guys are gonna piss Corn off...be careful...lol

I used one when I just started squatting, but I quickly got rid of it. It ends up making the bar more unstable, and actually made my neck hurt worse than squatting without one.

:D

I have never used a pad. I have always had enough meat in the traps to serve as a large pad:D . I guess it depends what type of structure you have.

I've never used a pad but I've heard they are dangerous, that the bar can roll down the back during the exercise with it and fuck up your shoulders.

I've recently started using pads, because I was getting some pretty god awful calluses on my traps from the bar. They felt like scales. So now I use my workout towel as a pad, which works well. It isn't so harsh on my skin, and it still provides decent friction to keep the bar stable.

pads are for girlymen...build more traps if it hurts...
i have squated 500+ and never used no pads...pads are for chicks on a rag....

Pad? I think I've seen a couple little girls at my gym use one before. LOL... If it hurts without it try holding the bar further down on your rear delts...
