The Southside Babell Bench Blast was held in Lantana, FL- Palm Beach County yesterday on April 27th 2002.
The meet director was Bob Youngs. Others from Southside Barbell and the community did a fine job of helping out Bob in running an extremely well done meet.
Here are my stats
6'2 1/2
242 pounds
26 years old
Powerlifting for about 12 months
1st official competition
I benched in the 242 lb class and here is how it went:
375 opener- no good- red light! The weight was easy as planned but I forgot to wait for the "PRESS" command from the judge
2nd attempt- 375 easy sucess!
3rd attempt- 407 green light fairly easy although mild shirt problems and bad form/setup
I am happy to get the numbers in the books altough I could have done more but I feel I did ok for my first meet. I learned a lot too.
I got to meet 1-dawg and The Mann
1-dawg did an excellet job judging. He is an expert powerlifter. He also conducted the rules meeting and handed out the trophies.
The Mann lifted in the 181 lb class and was totally STRONG! He won his division and had great explosion off the chest along with a tremendous lockout.
There were also Southside Barbell t-shirts that were for sale and they were so popular-they sold out. I will get the logo posted here.
