Marvin, Barry White, Don Mclean, Otis Reading, Tracy Chapman and Tupac are my ones. All classics. Wonder if people will be listening to Britney/timberlake/any other modern rubbish in twenty years time.

The Who's entire "Live At Leeds" album. Since 1971, I don't think I've ever gone more than a week without listening to it at least once.

Dude, I'm 47, and lemme tell you -- it never goes away. Men are adolescents for life. Except for my dad's generation, the WWII vets -- they grew up fast.

I am not sure if you are saying that you prefer the 1812 overture (which I tend to dislike for the simple reason that, like everything in the pop genre by Phil Collins, the 1812 overture is overdone in the classical genre) or if you are suggesting that I am mistaken that there is a 1712 overture by Bach, and that I am confusing it with the 1812 overture by P. I. Tchaikovsky.

Yeh sorry , I thought it was a mix - up , I mean that Bach guy u quote (without the first name) - that's presumably a joke (I have heard the cd and didnt think it was much good , even as a joke). I dont think the 1812 is overdone at all - depends on which orchestras you frequent at all of course.

Oh yeah, I forgot some of the ones you all listed, good calls...

Pretty woman by Roy Orbison
Just about anything by George Thoroughgood.

I can't believe Hotel California gets listed so often here. The Eagles had some good ones ..Heartache etc...but geez, hotel california is the ultimate party killer. A party could be rockin' and you put that on and pretty soon the party is in the dumps.

Springsteen Born in the USA.

Oh, that reminds me:

Springsteen - The River ("But I remember us riding in my brother's car. Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir. At night on them banks I'd lie awake. And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take")

Springsteen - Human Touch ("I ain't lookin' for prayers or pity. I ain't comin' 'round searchin' for a crutch. I just want someone to talk to. And a little of that human touch")

Springsteen - Hungry Heart ("Got a wife and kids in Baltimore, Jack. I went out for a ride and I never went back")

Springsteen - Born to Run ("Baby this town rips the bones from your back. It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap. We gotta get out while we're young. 'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run")

Springsteen - Better Days ("Now a life of leisure and a pirate's treasure. Don't make much for tragedy. But it s a sad man my friend who's In his own skin. And can't stand the company. Every tool's got a reason for feelin' sorry for himself. And turning his heart to stone. Tonight this fool's halfway to heaven and just a mile outta hell. And I feel like I'm comin' home")

Springsteen - Independence Day ("But they can't touch me now. And you can't touch me now. They ain't gonna do to me. What I watched them do to you")

Springsteen - I Wanna Marry You (" You never smile girl, you never speak. You just walk on by, darlin' week after week. Raising two kids alone in this mixed up world. Must be a lonely life for a working girl. Little girl, I wanna marry you")

Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark (" You can't start a fire. You can't start a fire without a spark. This gun's for hire. Even if we're just dancing in the dark")

Nope. Can't get over the lyrics and how he rips this country apart (and he has mentioned in several interviews that this was in fact his intentions).

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can't find, oh the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have they need love to help them heal

I've been listening to that song since I was 10 and I never get tired of it.

God I hate that song.

Someone else mentioned Motley on here, which made me think of Kickstart My Heart. For some reason, that one never gets old for me.

There are very few songs like that for me though.
