They call it Static Contraction Training..lifting in your strongest range with partial range of motion, so you can lift more...tried it, it sucked...going to try bigcracker's technique..maybe throw some water over my head, take a nap on the bench..etc..

I saw this one kid "maxing out" a few sets on his bench one day. He hardly goes halfway down, though. So one day I ask him how much can he bench. He says "375". I say "A full rep?". He says "Yep". I ask "What is a full rep to you, because last time I saw you bench you only went halfway down". He says "That's how I bench, man.". I ask "How is that a full rep?"

He goes on and shows me how when the arms are pulled back a little bit, that's when the pectorals are FULLY stretched, so that's how he benches.

.......WTF!! I want some feedback about that over here please. I think this kid's a friggin retard, and not only because of what I said above, but because the way he trains is GOD-AWFUL and he calls himself a Bodybuilder. And he acts like he's the friggin shit around the gym. And I'm not the only one who thinks he's on steroids. If you're on roids, do everything right, dammit!

DAMMIT! I hate that kid!

I watched the strongest man competition during the NFL pro-bowl week and they bench 225 for max reps. Some of these guys had a total bar travel of six inches. I'm saying to myself " I could 40 reps too if that's called a rep".
Of course, I wouldn't tell them to their faces.

guys that use bench shirts!!!! can;t go all the way down. so he,s not doing it wrong if hes use to a bench shirt method!! besides 375lbs is nothing to sneeze at. we do this when and after we maxed out and do negatives half way down. not that it wrong but just another method.

how about the guys in the gym, who have there backs arched so high of the bench, it looks like they want to f$%k the cielings.

Saw two guys in my gym with the "tickets to the gun show" (arrows pointing to the biceps) t-shirts on. Please dont tell me anyone here has this shirt in their closet. :)

you guys are killin me, two things, fuck maxing out anymore i did 365 just to see and hurt my shoulder it sometimes slips out of place, i got the lift but i wont max again cause i dont really care and i lift for looks anyway not strenght. 2-Target sells a t-shirt with a stick figure with huge arms that says"ya the cops just pulled me over for these guns"

i dont even train with a partner bc i hate ppl. i train by myself and use the smith machine if i know im gonan go really heavy.
I'm with you on this one. If you've got the right motivation, knowledge, and strength, a training partner just gets in the way!!

It's no different than when you see the guy with 225 on the bench and has his buddy helping him on every one, helping a lot. Then that guy tells everyone he works out with 225.

What are you trying to say?

hahahahaha

I disagree. The right training partner could make the difference in your gains. The training partner I have now really pushes me and my gains are going up. Again, it is a personal preference. I bet if I trained with you guys on here we would be #1 and #2 in the Olympia. I would be #1 of course. :)
