The term gene in this instance is a ridiculous assertion. That is an implication that one set of specific DNA causes this and it's hereditary. as opposed to saying that its a combination of completely random factors , with no increased chance based on a specific individual parent.

The idea that it's 100% environmental is completely inane too. I didn't read the part where glad said that, I was merely dismissing the theory of what his co worker said and what you infered Annie, by saying "people are born gay". that's over simplification

I was originally never arguing it was genetic, I was just arguing that for some people it's natural...there are plenty of natural causes for things besides one's genes, like SpyWizard's womb example.

Yeah glad, you should post the study...but it doesn't matter. I'll post some too. You think we understand genes better than we do, not to say genes are the cause. There are physical abnormalities and disorders that can't be attributed to a specific gene yet either, but you wouldn't say those don't exist because of it.

And yeah, there are gay animals. You should've googled before you asked. Bonobos participate in gay sexual acts all the time. Females finger and lick eachother often, and they're genetically the closest animals to ourselves. But if you want to say that's just sex, not a relationship, then two male penguins in NYC recently coupled and were even given an unhatched penguin egg to raise, which they did. How do they not? Because I'm pretty sure my sister and I had the same parents, lived in the same home, had to watch the same tv shows, play with the same toys, and in early childhood shared the same friends. I'm not saying they lead the exact same lives but unless one was moved elsewhere how can you not say they live in the same environment?

I'm an identical twin..the only environment we shared was the first four years of childhood..and that was just our home environment....if that is what you are talking aobut..then yeah..you are right. Depends on what you mean by environment I guess. From what I've read..and I could be wrong because I'm not an expert; as the twins go through life their epigentic profiles become more diverse because of their different environments...the different experiences change the pattern of those marks. Identical twins usually share the same placenta so unless something happens at birth to one twin and not the other..idk. Environment is the only thing twins don't share...even though it's close.

I have no problem with the idea of people being born gay either. None at all. Just having some coffee
