well there's alot going on here...all 4 women are different decents, all are PG- it was huge painting...the colors are so vivid...i couldnt stop looking at it. there are a 1000 things going on in this painting...

it's "selling" for 3k or that's the asking price? My lady is nowhere near famous and gets around 4-5k for paintings of that size (it looks to be around 48" sq?)

I suppose each person has their own taste.

I'd rather buy something that requires skill such as detailed drawings.

I could take a huge shit and put a ribbon on it and call it art, which is the equivalent to a lot of this high dollar art.

Too bad your taste isn't my ribbon topped pile of shit because I'd give it to you free.

People who get the big bucks aren't usually talented. They have to have alot of art knowledge, and be able to schmooze with the hoity-toities.

But then maybe I'm just bitter.

Darlin some of the greatest artists in history died paupers.

You are missing the point.

We are not talking about what YOU want to spend your money on. I was merely pointing out that if you think it is so easy to sell "shit" - then sell it or be quiet about it.

That's all I was saying... nothing more and nothing less.

ART is something that is an individual experience...it speaks differently to each and every person...there is no right or wrong, it is what it is. $$ is a judgement call, and is driven by a false sense of value, or popularity. if i had an extra 3K, i would have bought it- regardless of painter.

BTW- "famous" living artists would sell for much more than 3k.
Lucien Freud- English painter and related to Sigmund, charges more than 1,000,000 for a portrait. Last I heard anyway.
