Some Advice

Well, I'm fourteen and just starting to work out. Before now I had no problems keeping a straight stomach and all those wonderous things, however, now I find that I'm starting to get a bit of a belly.

Basically, I'm hoping for some advice on how to get rid of that tummy I was talking about. I was thinking sit ups, which I started to do (a hundred sit ups a night), although, that didn't really affect my stomach at all. Actually, it made it pop out that much more. I eat tons of carbos, and I can't stand vegetables, so is there any kind of diet that would work well with a fruit selection, and if so, what actions should I take to use that along with the sit ups I'm working on?

I'm also starting to get alittle extra fat on my chest and thighs, so any work outs or machines that would help with those particular areas would be great.

Any help would be appreciated.

you're 14 so i wouldnt get too worked up about keeping your diet super clean and counting calories meticulously like msot of us but i would suggest you make changes and adopt good habbits that will help u later in life

here's some tips:

- Reduce the amount of Junk food, Fast food and Sweet foods you eat

- Eat more propper foods like chicken and meats and vegetables

- Try to consume more foods that are steamed or grilled rather than fried

- Drink Lots of water!

- Ditch the Sodas that are sugar laden

- Don't eat seconds, if you're hungry have some water or some salad with dinner

- Try to reduce the amount of processed and refined carbs you eat, cut out boxed cereals, pre packed foods even those touted as low fat or healthy, most of them arent! Just stick to natural unprocessed stuff

- Keep active! Play sports, run around with ur friends, walk and bike instead of getting lifts and ditch the PS2

- HAVE FUN!!! you're young you wanna enjoy lifke and your high metabolism ;)
Dont get too anal about your diet, if you stray or ahve some treats dont worry as long as 90% of the time you're good!

So simple yet tends to be overlooked. Overweight people (I was one so I know) tend to think that unless you feel noticeably or even uncomfortably full, you're still hungry. Stay a little hungry...we're not stocking up for hibernation, there will be another meal in a few hours. :D

But really, as BA said, you're just a kid yet--don't go crazy worrying about your diet. there will be plenty of time for that in 10 years or so. Just follow his excellent advice.

Take care.

posting eating schedule

Alright, this is usually how my day goes when it comes to eating.

Breakfast: None

Lunch: None

I'm just not hungry during the day or after I wake up so I don't eat Lunch or Breakfast.

Supper: (can be anywhere from 4:30 to 6:00 at night) My mom hates to cook, so basically, its take out alll the time.

One night: Two slices of pizza

Next night: hamburger with side of mashed potatoes

Next night: Chicken Wings

Another night: fetticini alfredo

Snack: (anywhere from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am) sometimes its a nutrigrain bar, other times I eat honey nut cheerios. Sometimes I may get naughty and eat a plate of peanut M&M's.

So, in conclusion, thats basically my typical eating schedule.

Danny, one meal a day will make you fat fat fat, and because it will slow down you metabolism, it may take YEARS to recover. Try eating 5 or 6 small meals a day. Listen to BA's advice, and hit the weights.

Eat more often, and eat cleaner. Watch how often you eat things like pizza, etc. Eating smaller meals, more often, helps keep your metabolism up. Sometimes a meal can just be something like a protein bar or a boiled egg or 2. It doesn't have to be a literal "meal" as we think of a meal being.

you need to eat more meals but smalled meals

ok im not gonna get you confuzzled with calories, but you're young. Eat 5 times a day

It's all about portion sizes

Here's something from body for life which i think will help you

Eat portions the size of your fist for example eat oatmeal the serving size of a clenced fst, same with sweet potatoes etc. Things like chicken, and fish, eat the size that's the flat of your hand
A can of tuna is a good serving
Basically get used to eating smaller poritons and spread them trhoughout the day

Dont eat once a day, eating more than once will keep you from being hungry which will keep you from eating too much also it will keep your metabolism stoked!
