I had an extra elective credit to fill in this semester so I decided to use it on a bodybuilding class. I've been pretty excited about this class, I thought maybe I could finally get some hands on from someone who can show me proper form etc etc. Today I walked in to the class to find a bunch of overweight people. I pretty much expected it considering 90% of the population is overweight. But the shitty thing was that the coach was overweight and out of shape too!! needless to say, I was pretty dissappointed from the start. turns out, this is going to be more of an aerobics class than a bodybuilding class. Lots of jogging, pushups, and cardio crap for half the class (1 hour) and weight training for the other hour. She claims she is going to show us proper form on a few "key lifts" throughout the semester. She didnt mention which lifts she was going to show us, but lets put it this way, when she gave us a tour of the "gym", there was about 30 treadmills, 3 flat benches, one squat rack, and no space for deadlifts!!! WTF!! I'd guestimate that there was around 1000-1500 lbs total weight in that entire gym. I'm fucking pissed.

In addition to all of this, she says she wants to approve all of our workouts before we can use them... and judging by her physique, i doubt a 5x5 is going to go over very well.

On the other hand though, if i stay in the class, i'll get to be the big guy in the gym for once lmao ;)

sorry, just needed to vent.

ouch bro, that sounds like u got the shaft. If i were you id try to get her to let you lift while they all run, and then just sit there n laugh while they lift :P

I took a weightlifting class when i was in Junior College and it was a good start for me. I got a chance to learn from some top major DI coaches. Either way, you gain a college credit and you get a cardio hour and possibly a couple workouts out of the deal. Not bad. :)

A bunch of overweight people ... Hilarious.

That sucks man. Do what Kachok said though. See if you can lift while everyone else runs.

same thing when I was in college,,,, I just put my headphones on and did my own thing,,,, lol... The teacher would give us routines that were a fucking joke. I just ignored them and did my workout. His retarded ass did not even notice or he just didn't care. Either way I got an A and a credit for working out,,, lol..

lol, thats harsh dude, my friend had a class like that a few years ago, he would bring his shake that included protien/creatine to class and the teacher got mad at him becasue she said "he was destroying himself by taking creatine", needless to say he dropped that class after the first day.

I'm going back for a second day because I get a free body fat test ;) and then if I can't convince her to let me lift I'm dropping the class and signing up for underwater basket weaving... i figure I'll get a better workout
Howcome they never have powerlifting classes in college??

it's just a local junior college. All of the degrees are based around a technical skill instead of the normal generic degrees so they offer alot of cool classes. Some of them suck ass though, as i've learned today.

if there is a kinesiology dept. these classes are usually offered through it. If I were you I would drop the bodybuilding and take something like pilates or yoga, that way you could actually learn stuff, meet girls, and it will help you with your current training program.

On a side-note just b/c someone is overweight doesn't mean they do not know their shit. In your teacher's case it sounds like she is a moron, but keep an open mind in the future.

Hell, at Central Oklahoma you can take just about everything when it comes to physical education.

All students must have 2 hours of phys. ed. credit. . . its part of the general ed. requirements.

Ouch get out of there...I agree with Ironlion, just take something new that would be of value of your training regimen. Plus yoga girls vs girls in your class not a taught choice ;). My flexibility has gone to shit since I started lifting, I think yoga would hit the spot.

dude, drop it and take raquet ball.....fun as hell!!!

or badmitton (spelling?) sounds dumb, but also fun as hell!

Yeah, they had a class like that back at IU -- I took it but never showed up since I was on the track team and the teacher was one of the assistant football coaches... basically I got an A. :)

That sounds like it will be a frustrating class to say the least... it's bad enough to watch someone with bad form, let alone to have someone with bad form TELL you how to do it and then see EVERYONE doing it with bad form...

Man... it sounds like an episode out of the twlight zone. :)

i was lucky...they gave me my 2 credits for phy ed for my 3 months in marine corps boot camp. and not to mention 15credits from my work experience in the time i was in.;)
