Had a friend that does some personal training show me the right form and told me to go as low as I could...

He said to start off small, so I got the bar and 10lb weights and went at it...2 sets of 8 and I my legs were so unstable I couldn't hardly walk. I felt like my legs were rubberbands...

I got home and my legs were burning something awful. I have gone overboard on workouts before but I went in moderation and wasn't trying to go overboard...

This morning I got up and literally had to brace myself like a cripple to take a shower...walking up stairs is something awful as well.

Did I pull or damage something or is this just being extremely out of shape on my lower body?

My ass doesn't hurt or anything, its just my entire legs (both)

I usually do my upperbody today, but I decided to skip today since I feel like I got shot.

Sheeeesh...I hope this gets easier...

Ummmm, it will get easier. If possible, try and do some bodyweight squats just to stretch to muscles out again and get rid of the lactic acid. If you haven't done squats in a long time, then it is completely normal. If you can stand it, try squatting 2-3 times a week, for a month. After that, your legs should be conditioned to where you don't get sore anymore. The first couple days are going to be the worst though. Also, make sure you STRETCH! If it hurts to move, then skip your workout and stretch 3-4 times a day.

Remember, its fine to take pain pills AFTER a workout, just never BEFORE a workout. Make sure you know the difference between soreness, and acute pain that indicates an injury.

I went through that two weeks ago, I wasn't even going ATF then. But now I can squat and the next day not feel it. Right now I'm at 145 for 5 reps at my top set on my routine, tomorrow I'm going to press it to 155.

The worst part of it is when you really have to do a #2 and you have to fight for 2 minutes to get your ass on the seat. But I had people "helping" me get over it at work. They took turns pounding my thighs with brooms and knuckles and other things.

I start a squat session with just the bar for ten and only then slap a 10 on each end for my second set. When you're just starting, you might do some simple air-squats for a set of ten or twenty to limber everything up.

If you've never done squats before then all the stabilizer muscles in your legs had a nasty wake-up call. Once you're doing squats 3x per week, you'll probably not ache at all except rarely.

I still ache slightly and ive only been doing them for a couple of weeks. But good god when i started i could hardly get down the gym stairs. All good fun though :)

Whenever I stay 1 week or 2 without squatting (which I tend to avoid doing) and then I come back, I literally feel so stiff and painful the next day that I cannot walk properly...

Bow down to the power of the mighty SQUAT!

that was your hardest squat day you will ever have. it only gets easier from here.

eventually, (or for most oly lifters I know at least), when you start squatting a lot, you won't even get sore the day afterwards.

hehe. lovely!

yeah its fun. it'll get better. you didn't do anything wrong, actually you did something right. squatting is THE best lower body exercise you can do. enjoy the benefits/rewards to come.

Dude, what you did was K worthy. This is exactly how you want to feel after every squat workout. Look forward to this pain and become it's master. Do this every week and you will become the strongest man at your gym. :coffee:

that is good pain...enjoy! It does get easier :-)

Don't worry the soreness will go away and like most said if you squat regularly 2-3 times a week you won't get sore anymore. I can't recall the last time I got sore and have been squatting that way for over 2 years now. Just stick with it and don't let the soreness discourage you.

Soreness is a sign of muscle growth.Enjoy it and aim to be that sore after every workout!!GREAT JOB!!
Sorry, man, it's not so. Soreness is a sign of not being conditioned for or acclimatized to the work done. It's your body's way of saying "stop, you're in no condition to do that".

You can have useless workouts that leave you aching and very productive workouts that don't leave any aches at all. Once your conditioning and acclimatization to a workout reach sufficient levels, which doesn't take long, then muscle-soreness becomes a thing of the past. Most of us here who work lifts two or three times per week suffer with DOMS (delayed-onset muscle soreness) very little.

You must spread some Karma around before giving it to blut wump again.
