Actually, a freind of mine is doing some post-doc work in animal husbandry and recent evidence is showing that it can actually survive longer than seven days now (up to twice that in some cases). Really amazing.
More interesting is the speculation of British researchers in the 90's that studied modern female sexual behavior and speculated that up to 20% yes [B}20%[/B] of British males were raising children that unbeknownst to them were not their own children. This study was quickly ignored and shunned despite the valid and meticulous methodology behind it (longitudinal in nature as well - thus adding even more credibility).
