Sleep habits

How much sleep is needed tends to vary from person to person. I personally need atleast 8hrs a night at the very minimum. Sometimes I wont always get that, and a nap during the day helps a ton. If you are training hard you will need the rest big time, so make sure you are getting enough sleep every night. How many hours exactly?, Im not sure but you will be able to figure that out

ideally you should take a short nap in the afternoon or after training (after protein/carbo replenishment offcoarse).

Also I have noticable better gains in terms of strength and size when i go to bed early (23:00 hrs) religiously for 2 months.

I realize that due to work/school schedule the afternoon nap is not always possible but it helped me a lot to stop marathonclubbing every week.

Less party , more Iron and when I party I prefferably skip the evening, have my sleep at home, wake up refreshed and in the morning we go to the afterparty only. this way you avoid the jetlag from long clubbingsession and messing around your biological day/night clock.

i disagree with the short nap, your body best replenishes it self when in deeper states of sleep such as rem or sws (short wave sleep). You could meditate if you like that would be justas beneficial as a short nap.
IMHO.

If you are training hard Even if you can function on 6.5 hours of sleep per night, i'd suggest getting as much as possible. I try and get 9 hours of sleep a night, I havent got that yet but Thats what i'm working towards.
Lift big, Eat big, Sleep big.

I have lots of friends who train heavy...and when training heavy they get a minimum of 10 hours per night.

While in school I am lucky to get 6-7...and I try to take a 1 hour nap before I train...

I am lucky to get 5 hours a night right now.:( (9 week old son.) And most of the time, I can't get that 5 hours in a row.

Oh well, it will only get better........

I get anywhere from 8-12 hours but these are mostly broken up into shorter segments, the best is sleeping after and beofre you workout, plenty of energy and plenty of rest, make sure to eat a lot as welll
