ladies take a look at these pictures

624.x600.Seek2.MindBody.2.jpg

29.9% Body fat
5’8”, 142lbs, size 6

624.x600.Seek2.MindBody.3.jpg

36% Body fat
4’11”, 108lbs, size 2

624.x600.Seek2.MindBody.1.jpg

30% Body fat
5’4”, 123lbs, size 4

That is skinny fat it takes no exercise no lifting weights starve yourself screw up your metabolism and eat junk and you too can be skinny fat.

Now lets look at my avatar picture as an example I am almost 5'6 weight 146 at 12% body fat and I wear a size 2 now I realize not everyone wants to look like that cool. The point I am getting at is muscle weights more then fat so stop caring so much about the scale weight. Be consirned about your body fat % how clothes fit and how you look in the mirror the scale is just a number.

just wanted to point out that bodyfat with some women can be a bit tricky too. upper body vs.low body. i tend to carry a lot of my fat on my hips/thighs/butt. so maybe lean upper body+ softer lower body=higher bf %age. not sure if that makes any difference on the end result, except that some individuals might look alot different with same weight and bf%age.

Yes but unlike the women pictured you have muscle. Hot sexy muscle :p :p

Skinnyfat means thin but no muscle tone, hence the flabby sagging look.

Exactly right I have seen men and women change there weight significantly losing tons however there body shape stays the same just smaller with little to no muscle mass.

I love this thread!

A really good example of classic skinny fat: Runway Models. Swimsuits are the give away, especially if you look at the back of their thighs and butts. I'm sorry, if you're in healthy shape and a normal size your butt should stop moving the minute you do. Plenty of those young women would look 200% better if they'd gain five pounds of muscle and get some muscle on their bones to fill out their skin :worried:

FML I'm not too far from the first one.
Oh well it'll come eventually:)

I'm the guy version of skinny/fat. Not working out for two years will do that. I am back at the gym now. The muscle is coming back but I have not attempted to drop the fat yet. 260+. Still have abs when I flex they just aren't pretty. I guess I am 20% or so.
I refuse to buy new clothes til I am in shape again. I can't wait.
I completely understand body issues when people talk about them. Guys suffer from it too!

I love this thread! Thanks for posting. I am struggling to get my mom to incorporate working out into her life - she's 5'3", about 108lbs, and she does look thin - but she just doesn't get it...

This is a concept I try to teach so many girls on campus. Practically every female is obsessed with the scale number. Instead, the focus should be on the quality of that body mass. Body recomposition is the real game. It's easy to lose weight, or gain weight, but body recomposition is a tough deal, but that's really the gaol of any girl that says she wants to tone up, get tighter for the beach, whatever.

I should point out that the most women in the US would love to look like any of the pictures posted. In this forum we just happen to have women who want more from themselves and their bodies.

This is so interesting! Call me naive (which I am when it comes to the fitness world), but this kind of thing never really dawned on me. I finally see the importance of weight training to get that sexy lean healthy look.

I met a friend of a friend last weekend. He's a personal trainer (built his own clientale, etc) and he knows what he's talking about, and I was ROFL'ing when he was talking about his wife. I've never met her, but I'm told she's very petite. He said she lives the most unhealthy lifestyle, always eating ice cream and junk, and never exercises. He put it like this:

"She looks very good, but it's just well-shaped goo. There's no muscle there. It looks good, but you push in on her anywhere and it all moves. She's a gorgeous girl, but it's just...goo. It's quite pathetic for a woman in her mid 20's to be like that."

This is the trend that needs to stop. So many girls think it's OK to look skinny, as long as it fits the mold of what society deems to be sexually desirable. They don't care if it makes them a well-shaped tub of goo, as long as it appears to look good.

I've had the fortune of training some pretty well-conditioned females before, and they all have one thing in common: they're solid. I trained a Hooters girl who placed 7th at the big swimsuit competition they have each year, and she was solid. Nothing moved on her. I trained a girl with a martial arts black belt, and she was solid.

The standards of what is considered "healthy" has to change. I don't care if you wear a moo moo, all I have to do is analyze what your neck looks like and how that moo moo falls off your shoulders to get a rough idea on the kind of shape you're in. Ultimately, you can't really hide the fact that you're 132 lbs of fat and no muscle. The comment about the supermodels is very accurate. There was a time when I was in middle school where I thought those girls looked good, but now that I've seen some truly top of the line physiques, those "supermodels" are a joke. Eventually, the truth shall be set free.

Yes it is mainstream media that makes us think skinny fat is acceptable. There is nothing wrong with a woman having some fat not everyone wants to be a fitness model or bodybuilder I get that. I think a good healthy body fat for the average female to shot for is aroun 16-19% you will be consired "toned" by the rest of the world. The thing that I find happens with fitness is it becomes an addication of sorts and you are always aming to be better but sometimes you need to step back and enjoy where you are love yourself as is because if you can't love yoruself in the present you wont love yourself when you get to your goal either.

If there were a way to get consistent numbers, then I think it would be simplier to train. The scale is an easy thing to see and recognize. Calipers depend on the skill of the user.

This is a great thread with some really good comments. I have dealt with elite athletes and fortunately they are not the ones who usually have to be re-educated. It is the main stream people, both men & women. These people are often very ignorant (because of being educated by the media), are obsessed with the scale and those who have realized not to be obsessed with the scale are now becoming obsessed with BF%. I have competed on the NPC National level always placing in top 5 and have trained many, many bodybuilders (men & women), figure & fitness competitors and normal & obese people over the years and never go by BF%. My comment is are the judges up there with calipers (I think not...) & are people chasing you around the beach with calipers??? They are looking at your physique. What is important and does not lye is the mirror and pics. Go by how you look. I say this based on the fact that BF% can often be quite in-accurate, I have seen hydrostatic testing, electrode testing and caliper testing and have seen some VERY inaccurate figures. Not that I am saying they are always inaccurate, but what is never inaccurate is the mirror or pictures.

It's great to have illustrations of exactly what we mean by the term "skinnyfat". Now ladies can see what it means to have skimpy muscles and too much body fat.

Too many of us live and die by the damn dress size number. OMG I'm a 4 now! I matter. I'm pretty. Life is grand.

Starving to get into that 4 though almost assuredly cannibalized skeletal muscle and lowered your basal metabolic rate significantly. Now you find you have to continue to starve yourself just to maintain that new size. Less muscle, fewer calories needed.

Pump iron ladies. Be hard. Your upper arm will stop waiving when your hand does.

This thread is so interesting, because of the fact that comes from a woman. I have seen that in ladies from many years ago. Even with my ex wife. So many ladies claim to have "curves" and be "hot", when is plain bullshit; the reality is that they are chunky fat with no muscle and cottage cheese ass. Specially here in South Florida, even though I like latinas, I'd say 90% of them are fat. By statistics, latinos are increasing body fat at a faster rate than any other racial group. Ladies here claim to have sexy curvy bodies, being hot and not flat like whites, and I know is bullshit; they have chunky ugly asses from so many fried bananas and Cuban bread. That's the plain hard truth, and is IMPOSSIBLE for a dude to explain this to a girl. I don't like skinny girls, nor fat girls. I like them athletic, with muscle, and just the tiny little layer of fat that gives the spicy look. If on top of that, by genetics you have a big round booty, God bless you sister.
