Valentines day is not widely known in my country, Finland, that is. So, I've got no problems, it will be like any other day. I am single, have never been dating with anyone, and I don't see anything peculiar about that. I'm quite amused by the American way of thinking that you MUST have a boy/girlfriend or someone to spend your weekend with. At least that is the way they seem to think in American films, novels, TV series and soap operas. Is it a correct picture? I'll shock you some more: I'm 42 (shall be 43 this year) and I really have never had a boyfriend. That doesn't mean that I haven't tried. I just haven't found Mr Wright (does he exist) and I would never dream of dating anyone just because "everybody else does". But I am content with my life as it is. Silently laughing to those who panic if they can't go out with someone from the opposite sex.
Well, that day is becoming more known here. Schoolchildren are going to organize something nice for the previous week, and if Valentines day is a schoolday, we are going to have a freer afternoon, singing, doing theatre, playing games and so on, for maybe two hours. Kids usually dress in different colours on different weekdays: Monday green, Tuesday black, Wednesday transsexually etc. but Valentines day is always red or pink.
