Ok, I'm curious......I'll bet half of us say they hate cardio and half of the half ;) refuse to do it at all. My question is, aside from being a genetic freak, can you get shredded/ripped/diced, by finagling your diet alone....i.e. no cardio whatsoever?

How about just the stationary bike?
 
I can but my strength and size levels go way down. If I do interval cardio or grapple I can get ripped without losing strength or size witha decent diet

yes you can talk to onerepmaximum he just did a show w/o doing much cardio and Im sure you dont need to be in contest shape to look great for the summer. I can get really lean on diet alone but I feel kind of crappy if I do, I hate cardio so I do hit cardio. Sprint 100 yards in under 14 seconds (Depending on size you could extend time to 16-18 seconds) jog back in under 60 sec(always the same) as soon as you get back go again. Start at 8 sprints and work your way up do these twice a week and you'll see some quality results. It doesnt take very long either, just do a lap or two jog to warmup and stretch out and your good to go. done w/i 20 minutes
 
to me, cardio makes the whole process faster and when i see results quicker i feel motivated. Another reason for me to do cardio is to chase women around on an indoor track, lol
 
I mainly do cardio because after bulking all winter I get winded doing menial tasks and it pisses me off. So might as well work on my cardiovascular endurance while I'm dieting.
 
Aside from doing cardio for it's own sake or to make a distance/time-based PR, why do you dislike cardio so much yet not dislike lifting?
 
i HATE cardio (probably since i ran track all throughout high school and my freshman and half of my soph year of college), i like lifting much more
 
I don't like running due to the fact it can lead to problems in knees later in life. I like walking a lot, just to get out for a breath of air and to clear my mind. I'll play basketball for fun. I'll ride the stationary bike every once in a while. I don't hate cardio, but I don't feel as accomplished when I finish a cardio session as I do when I lift.
 
I would say yes if you have a very active job. One where your heart rate is up there.

i have this ONE FRIEND WHO HAs excellent geneticS.. HE DOEs jack SHIT ALL DAY, EATs whatever, have about 7% bf (im guessing) has A KILLER six pack and obliqueS TO MATCH, LIFTS no weight AT ALL AND Seems TO HAVE REALLY TONED MUScleS..

I ADMIT, ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH HE DOEs puSHUPs and SOME DB curlS WITH THESe 25'S HE HAs, but either way, he lookS GOOD.. I BET WHEN HEs 30 it will change.. but for now, live it up
 
I have far from great genetics, I gain fat just by looking at food, but I got down to 4% bf with almost no cardio, none at all in the last 4-6 weeks. The key was keeping the diet 100% on at all times

Just the man I wanted to hear from....lol....whats been going on?

Ok, so you do it with no cardio...how do you keep your strength/size and are you training just once a day? Decrease rest times between sets?
 
To maintain, I'm just going to take a stab in the dark, but I think Needsize used 1 or 2 heavy sets to preserve strength and cuts down accessory exercises to 1 set for 8-10 reps. Well, that's what I remember him telling me awhile back when I asked about cutting on a 5x5. 1-2x5 and 1x8-10
 
I'm thinking about nixing the cardio..........only problem is, I train so damn early in the am, by the time 5pm rolls around, I feel like I davent done anything.....except my brain is friend and I'm tired...........lol
 
So you're cutting out cardio and going to be on a caloric defecit while trying to grow, man? I believe you did want to grow, yes?

Oh, I'm just assuming you'd be on a defecit...I don't know how you plan to gain past your current level without adding at least a bit of fat.
 
i'm 6 weeks into my cutting diet and was going to add cardio when fat loss started to plateau. my diet has been super clean, and i'm seeing great results without any loss in strength. i HATE cardio, so i'm hoping the loss continues so that i can get away without having to add it in at all....we'll see.
 
Tom was close about my training, I only did 1-2 heavy sets, the rest lighter(8-10 reps) and cut my rest times down somewhat. The key is that I was eating below maintainance, around 2500 calories a day, so anytime you go below that level you will lose fat. I still ate around 200 carbs a day to keep my strength up
 
Needsize, saying you have far from great genetics is the only thing you've ever said that I disagree with. Try being stuck in my body. Not dissing you by any means...to look at you, I just see solid physique, and would immediatley think the opposite.

I admit I have great shape, but I am a brutal hardgainer, and thats even with steroids. And not only do I have a hell of a time gaining any size, but I get fat just by looking at food
 
maybe u got fat while running the gh with no t3, he he you should be fine now with the t3 I know I had a bitch of a time trying to cut while on gh with no t3 :-) but now its 50mcg for me and bulking away with the needsize seefood diet, lol
 
most of the fat this time time came either during the post show rebound, or when I ended my cycle, I think my thyroid shuts down while I'm on as I gain mad fat when I go off

hey bro, havent seen you around..........curious as to your training, eating and gear routine.....would you do me a favor and post? Stats?
