As I mentioned, I have tried ART. After two visits, the guy just aggrevated my shoulder rather than improving it. Thankfully he didn't make it worse. Despite my experience with active release, a lot of posts on this site speak highly of the procedure. My guy may have just been a dumb ass. Just be cautious if you pursue this option.
Anyway, I went to another orthropedic surgeon who specializes in sports-related shoulder injuries. He pretty much confirmed that my problem is rotator cuff tendonitis, and my best course of action is conservative measures for now. I basically just need to be patient. It could be another few months before I'm 100%.
I'll be honest with you, on more than one occasion, I've pushed myself a little too hard (even with rotator cuff exercises) trying to get my shoulder better ASAP. For most of us, weightlifting/bodybuilding is a SERIOUS part of our lives. Moreover, we have a weightlifters mentality...pushing our muscles to their limits and beyond with the goal of being bigger and stronger. I have sense learned that this way of thinking doesn't work when trying to rehab an injury.
My suggestion to you is to go hard and heavy with leg work and abs, and do more cardio for now. Modify your routine by staying away from ANY AND ALL movements that cause pain or irritate your shoulder later on. Make sure you are comfortable with your doctor and do what they say. Lastly, use common sense. You don't want to overdo it and go straight back to square one.
Keep us informed. Good luck!!
