Shoulder Injuries

Guys... anyone out there having the same problem -

Rotator cuff muscles under the delts are strained...

I've been resting for 6 months. Done physiotherapy. Done Chinese 'chi' massage. Getting better... still have this soreness in there when I stretch my arms laterally.

I must have hurt myself when pushing heavy on bench presses... the problem was I didn't even realise it until many weeks after.

Anyway, on the road to recovery.... my physio and my Chinese Master told me to go easy on the chest and shoulder exercises... just don't want to but I have to I guess....

Anyone who has gone thru the same shit?... care to share your experience?

Cheers.

I went through something similar a few years ago. I strained the same muscle doing incline bench. I stayed off it for a couple weeks. After that I started slowly working chest and shoulder stuff again. I kept at it, but the pain didn't subside for months. I think it was over three months until I got back to normal.

So for me, I pretty much just lifted through the pain until it went away. In retrospect, that probably was not a good idea. I think I was just lucky. I was younger and dumber then, but quicker to heal as well.

I think that since this has been a problem for you for so long, six months as you said, you probably did a good amount of damage. My only suggestion, and I'm no doctor, would be to keep babying it. My guess is that it might not be getting better because you're working it too hard prematurely. Just my .02. Hope it gets better for you bro.

yeah GT... I'm 35.. and I certainly don't want to bet on my 'natural healing power'!

I'll never get a chest like Big Brother Val :(

Ive got a shoulder injury but I dont know what it is

I was just starting out training and didnt entirely know what I was doing, I was supersetting Military presses behind the kneck (ow) with lateral raises and I went overboard and felt something go on the top of my left shoulder

Since then its got better but never fully recovered

I learnt very early on how important your shoulders are and how you should look after them

Now I start every workout with 2 sets of 25 reps of external rotator cuff exercises to warm up the cuffs (L-Flyes), before my shoulder workouts I also do 2 sets of 25 internal rotator exercises

Ive almost eliminated the pain, but not totally, it hurts a little when Ive done a set of pullups, but doesnt really hurt on anything else

I am going to see a sports dr soon to see if i can eradicate it completely

Had really bad shoulder pain for months, starting taking MSM two weeks ago (4.5g/day) and I feel a hell of a lot better. I'm able to go heavy again in d-bell presses with virtualy no pain. Definitly worth a try.

I had shoulder and elbow pain while benching.I have been doing rotator cuff exercises and more warm up sets.I have been taking MSM also and have no more pain!
