You know I keep looking at your confidence & calm look in your avi and pretty much all the way thru your posing routine -- just like gymmum said - I'm sure you've felt a variety of shades of freak-out-ness over the course of this whole experience, but generally there's such a sense of calm, trust, dedication and focus throughout this whole evolution. Its really awesome and yes, I think you were built for the stage ;)

I was just as surprised as you at how "not nervous" I really was. :D I don't know why - it just felt good to be up there. I hope I get the same calm feeling at the next one.

You got the natural "it."

People don't question natural talent in music or art. Bodybuilding is apparently your niche, hon :qt:

I'm leaving for Phoenix tomorrow. My friend Jules is competing in a show - going for her pro card in the ABA - naturals. She's 45 and a grandma. She looks awesome, too. Her weigh in is in the morning and comp is on Saturday - so I'll be back Sunday. I'll post a pic of her - hopefully with her trophy!

Jeff is going, too - and also my friend Kathy. She just won her pro card (natural) about a month ago. She's beautiful - a lightweight. She wants to add muscle and cross over into the NPC - maybe do the San Diego show next spring. She and Jules anre coming to Vegas for my show, so whoever's coming will get to meet them.

They're kewl. :rainbow:

someone is running at 14 mph on the tread? and I thought I was nuts... I'd take out everyone in the row of cardio machines behind me.. *bows down*
Jens, I love the feature you speak of, really helps a lot :rose:
TSO - enjoy the comp woman, and drink your water :velvett:
frozen grapes sound yummy :chomp:

Jens - I'll try the interval option next time.

14 MPH?!? Is that even humanly possible?!

I'm really proud of myself when I do that on the stationary bike

I actually manage about 2 mph on my ellipitical :FRlol:

ok. I'm back. did I miss any excitement? ;)

My friend Julie kicked ass! She won her class in the open, she won overall, she won the masters, best poser, most muscular, and she got her pro card. WOO HOO!!!! AND SHE'S A GRANDMA, PEOPLE!! That is so exciting, and shows us all that age is not an excuse.

I'll post pics of her when I get a chance.

I felt like a foreign bb in a foreign land at this competition. lolol It was the INBF, not the ABA, btw. COMPLETELY different than the NPC in every aspect. They had a James Brown impersonator. :D lololol

Little bit different this week.

I am considering a different cardio/fat burner scheme for next week and want to let her body adapt before we make changes this week.

This type of routine will actually allow her to add 5-7 pounds come show time. We can afford that with the extra weight classes...last time this wasn't an option

the-short-one said:
5-7 pounds would be super. :D Are we competing in the middles or the L heavies?

Honestly...I would like to see you as a light heavy....but we will go to middles is we get you ultra dry

Hey..I saw you were leaving for Phx. Next time you are here let me know. I live in Phx. We could have green tea and a fat burner. LOL Ahhh! Funny. Hope you had a great weekend!

S - I would LOVE to compete as a light heavy. I'd much rather do that than lose mass to drop down to the middles.

I'm going up against these women: (2006 results) Am I (or will I be) big enough?

My goal is to ultimately compete as heavy as I can while still staying in the L heavies.

Salvagno, Angela = age 29/5-4.5/132
Sabo, Christine = age 37/ 5-4 /140
Karen Tucker = no stats
Bramwell, Debbie = 39 /5-2 /138
Karen Choat = no stats
Anita Nikolich = no stats
Dettwiller, Melissa = age 27/ 5-2 /139
Karen Garrett = no stats
Nicholson, Holly = age 45 /5-7 /138
Barbara Garcia = no stats
Mona Krause = no stats
Diane Steinbronn = no stats

...so. with 5-7 lbs of added muscle and a tight ass ( ;) ) , that would put me right within competitive weight range.

yes it will.

The key is the tight legs.

Better to be ripped and a middle then a not so ripped lt heavy.

BEST to be a ripped Lt heavy though......

At a national show like that leanness is a big deal so that's what you want. Soft in the hammies leaves you in the dust.

(chanting to self on treadmill:)

rock-hard-hammies. rock-hard-hammies. rock-hard-hammies...

-----------

ok. so basically, we aren't too worried about what class I'll be in. We just want lean legs, dammit.

I really liked this workout tonight. I felt strong and motivated. I closed my eyes during most of my sets and pictured how I wanted to look. ;) lolol I know that sounds :rainbow: , but it helps me.

I was thinking about the weights I was pushing last year at this time. I remember struggling with 90lbs on the seated cable rows. :D Now I use that weight for 5TUT as a starting point. cool. :)

I still want to be able to pick up those 100lb dumbells and press them for 8.

Cardio in the mornings is starting to feel better. I was struggling with it for a while - HIIT was getting harder each time I did it. This morning it felt good. My energy levels must be returning to me.

also - I know I skipped a couple of days logging. I did everything I was supposed to do and ate what I was supposed to eat. Since I'm now officially 12 weeks out (less now, actually), I"ll keep it up every day. Just consider those 3 days a vacation for me from my workout thread.

oh, hey. Remember in my last log, I told you I talked with one of the judges. It was Eryk Bui. PIC:

HAWT, huh? :p I think he judges all of the Lindsay Production shows - so might be a judge at the USA's.

He was at Sassy's show in Atlanta - he looked like the human square.....he's wide but REALLY short.

Great job on the weights and cardio.....I thought this would be a needed change all around.

Yep...we need to focus on the legs......that doesn't mean that we cant add muscle...just means that the focus is on leanness.

VISUALIZATION!

Also when you have a visualization of how a muscle feels flexed and targeted, that gives you a much more complete sense of what you are presenting on stage. I.e. when you do a tricep press down, that's what you want your horsehoe to look like on stage. When you can see it during the exercise you can see where your hams come in, you can see a lot of the stuff that you aren't necessarily aware of when you are workign on the posing itself. When you pose you sort of pre-assume what it "should" look like and which muscles you think should be engaged -- when you see what actually engages during an exercise you see more than what you thought should be showing, with the further awareness of which muscles are engaging (based on what is getting isolated or i.e. what is burning!)

YES! that was what I was doing. It also helps me to make sure I'm working the proper muscles - if I'm not feeling it exactly where I should, I make tiny adjustments so that I can feel the burn in it's proper place. :)

People do stare at me. I'm used to the way I look, so it gets kind of weird once in a while - like I might have a giant boog hanging or something. :D We work out at the same time every night, so see the same people. Everyone is used to me now. Once in a while, we get a new person/couple/group of kids in while I'm there. It's STARE FEST. lolol Me staring back at them usually fixes that.

When I do cardio in the AM - it's all really old people. lol They like me (and probably can't see 2 feet in front of themselves anyway), so not much staring. ;) Yesterday, a woman was trying to make it up the stairs - she did, but it took FOREVER. I asked her if she needed help, and she told me that when you get to her age, all stairs are hard. When she finally got to the top, she got on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I swear that woman was at least 80 years old.

I have something for all of you to see. Melissa Detwiller is currently 12 weeks out from the Team Universe. Here are her "12 week out progress pics". She has a really nice back. Dave Palumbo is dialing her in ffrom the 16 week mark, so she should come in looking really lean. She says she's already leaner at this time than she usually is during previous preps at 12 weeks out.

I think she's got a good chance at the Team Universe.

Question:

She natty??

The Universe is tested every way to Sunday.

I seem to remember some stuff when she was on here.....should make the testing interesting

Sassy69 said:

lol. I was kinda wondering about that, myself. After going to a small natty show in Phoenix and seeing guys who were extrememly questionable (IMO) of being natty - I guess it's done all the time.

There must be proven ways of passing a lie detector and a UA after the show.

...which reminds me of something Eryk Bui told me. I mentionted to him that another judge had suggested I enter the Max Muscles Naturals the following weekend after San Diego. (I gave the guy a look that said "you're crazy!) and he just laughed and told me "there were always ways around these things. :worried: ) After hearing this - Eryk told me he used to judge that show until he found some things out behind the scenes.

They were making all the contestants pay $20 for UA before the show. He collected all the samples and put them in a box. After all the money and all the pee was collected, the promoter told Eryk to go throw them in the dumpster.

yeah...that happens to smaller natty shows.

the Universe is a different ball of wax....they used to drae blood samples etc.

A UA is easy to beat....involves Vinegar and a cath.

lol

The girl who won my 2nd show, which was natty & tested (voice stress or lie detector) was JACKED.

I'm sure that whole tested thing can be just as irrelevant as how you actually look when it comes to final judging.

I dunno what she is doing in terms of drugs but I know that Dave's only approved drugs for woman are GH, T3, Clen, Var and Novla. If she is using perhaps a tapper of 2 weeks out?

S how do they test for gh and t3? It naturally occuring in the body just curious how that works, also how would they test clen and novla?

that just irritates the hell out of me. WHY do people do that? Do they feel they can't win an untested show, so take the natty route knowing they'll come in on top because of thier mass and conditioning? errrr.

I have a lot of respect for natty competitiors. ALL my friends here are - and I see how they work and struggle to maintain their mass while cutting. For the most part, they sacrifice a lot of mass.

My friend Andy is competing in tucson on Saturday. He's all natty, and struggles to hold his mass in order to lean out his back and legs.

ok. Here are my progress pics for this week. Kind of late, I know. My weight has not changed. 147. I can see a difference in my body in the pics, though.

across shoulders = 45
above boobs = 35

right bicep = 13.5
waist = 28.5
hips = 36
right quad = 23.5
right calve = 15.25

No one flame me for the fat ass comment, dammit. I bet even you skinny people feel like fat asses sometimes.

It nukes popcorn fast, tho. At 2 minutes, it starts to burn. I'm at 4500 feet elevation, tho. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Beat me to it.. I think the push to get the hammies down & then maintaining them w/ the focused crazy leg work is gonna go sooo far to getting down to the 'beef'(or ham as the case may be...)

All this talk of "tacos" is weirding me out. ;) lolol

:mexican: :taco:
I like taco's.

One question. I keep reading, here and there on different logs, people mentioning NPP, what is it and what does it do?

NPP is nandrolone phenylpropionate . It's a short acting deca. differences from deca that I have noticed are:

no bloat, sore throat, or acne problems. I don't think it's as helpful to the joints as deca, but it still helps. I've only been taking it while in contest prep - so can't make any judgements on gains being equal to deca. (...I made some good gains on deca last summer/fall) I'm sure they're similar, though.

Nandrolone PhenylPropionate AKA NPP it is a steroid fast acting deca.
