Sexual Repression...(moved and cont.)....

I don't get it. We want naked chicks (hot ones) and cheap, legal drugs? What could go wrong? Come to Canada. We have all that stuff already. The catch with hot naked chicks is that there's a time and a place. Contrary to popular belief, chicks don't want to be naked all the time, especially the hot ones. They feel like they're on display or something I suppose.

What is the crime rate in Canada?

(to those who were in on it, prior and would also like to join in the debate)

I'm confused......you want there to be more nudity, heteor sex, and an enviroment like Amsterdam in the US? That would be great if everyone had the maturaty level to handle it.

That is like handing a kid a gun.

Maybe you have a point about the maturity level. I also think that we as a nation still are hanging on to some old Puritan ideas about life, liberty, and the persuit of loose women.

Although beastie, in some instances, not only did the kid have a gun, but it is now smoking.

That's my point exactly. What does it say about our society that there aren't people with enough maturity to handle it?

Like we are so enlightened over here.

Uhm....I'm pretty sure what Nathan is saying is exaggerated, so you are not going to prove your point.

True.

But you had said that it would be great if there were people mature enough to handle it. Can you infer that you are saying people in Europe, Canada, and Austrailia (there you go Test Boy) are more mature than people in the states?

Actually, women are really allowed to be topless. Also, the police were instructed to not do anything to people possessing less than 30g of marijuana. They're supposed to let them go. No fine, nothing. Beat that.

Yeah, it happens...doesn't mean we should NOT try to prevent it from happening.

Okay.....lets break it down here....I'm arguing about the implications this could have on children....are you as well?

Also...are the things you say are not happening in the US actually happening over there?

[QOUTE]

I completely agree on this point. There could certainly be negative consequences for children if this were to change. However, don't most kids find a way to view this type of material anyway? I know I did. And the fact that they have to access it in secret implies that it is somehow wrong.

Also...are the things you say are not happening in the US actually happening over there?

Well I know that there are less restrictive policies regarding the portrayal of sex on TV and in commercials. Also as Nathan pointed out there is more latitude for nudity and less criminalization of marijuana. Is that what you were getting at or did I miss the point?

Beastie, if you are a mature adult who is able to handle all the temptations that a sexual revolution would produce, I think then you would be mature enough to work with your kids to help them understand some of the differences, instead of letting them discover for themselves what it is all about, and then becoming a 30 year old grandfather.

Peer Pressure is hard to deal with.....You have al your friends and see this stuff on TV everyday, but only mom and dad arguing against it......makes it pretty hard for a kid. I'm going to try my damnest to teach them.

You have a daughter, correct? Do you think you'd feel differently if you had a son?

Also...please define your sexual revolution.

MY sexual revolution involves acres upon acres filled with hot young naked women with tight bodies and surgically enhanced breasts. They ALL have pancake nipples and never bend at the knees when they drop things on the ground. They are ALL extremely attracted to me both sexually and financially, in that they are attracted to sexy poor guys who look like me. And, to top it all off, they ALL have an insatiable sexual appetite and don't want anything to do with any guy who isn't me. That's MY sexual revolution.

Not one bit.

Cool.

My buddy has a daughter and I know for a fact he has the same double standard that is pervasive in society. If a teen age boy gets laid, he's a stud. If it's a girl, she's a whore.

Bad choice of words, unless you consider growing into puberty a sexual revolution.

I can only imagine what my sister is going through, trying to raise two teenage daughters. But seeing how she and her husband are raising those two, the girls (IMO) are pretty well informed about sex, and I think they see other kids that have had babies, and know having a baby is not what it is cracked up to be.

I'll PM you with another question.

I quoted myself. Just like that.

I think most of the responsibilty lays in the hands of the parents.....I would take responsibily "as a parent" if my daughter ended up pregnant. But I think having some restrictions on the way the media exposes sex is a good thing. Do I think there should be no mention of homosexuality? No.....but I don't want to hear about the bedroom antics of them or a heteor couple....I want to be the one educating my children...not the TV. I can't stop them looking for it via the internet (but that is usually done at a age where some sexual comprehension is present), but I'd rather not be in their face on a daily basis.

Increased sexual liberation on TV is compatible with keeping restrictions on kids. DirecTV offers locks and limits, and I would think the cable companies could offer something similar.

Just admit it....you don't want to pay for porn.

Then I won't bore you with my late night shenanigans from last night.

Can I throw in one piece of advice? When you have that talk, and you know you will, don't make it sound "dirty". That could just fuel their curiosity.

I quoted YOU this time. I'm unpredictable to say the least.

Crime rate in Canada is extremely low. Women are allowed to go topless and you can possess <30g of weed. No woman goes outside topless.
