Salmon Oil = "fish oil" ?

I have Salmon Oil caps.

Is "Salmon Oil" and "fish oil" basically the same thing, or am I missing out on something by not having a variety of fish oils?

What is the recommended daily dose?
I'm taking 3 1000mg caps daily.

3 pills is probably not enough. you might need to take around 10 pills.

I should have added that I get at least 6g total of epa/dha which is why I take 10g/capsules.

You should take between 5 and 10 pills a day. Some people take higher amounts. I am just going by what MS and wilson6 recommend here, which is 1.5gr - 2gr of total EPA/DHA per day.

I usually take 2 tbsp of UDOs and 5-10 salmon oil pills daily.

nope, no EPA/DHA in flax oil.

and you are fine taking both the flax oil and the salmon oil caps.

flax requires conversion which decreases in efficency as we age. Therefore I jsut take the fish oil, although the essential fats in flax are also good, the studies done on the positive effects of efa's have been done using epa/dha.

Bullit check out www.walgreens.com. They have a cheap fish oil that I have been using for a while now. You should aim for around 6g of combined EPA/DHA per day. That equals out to about 20 caps daily. Even lower doses (around 3g a day) will have some good effects for you.

Is 8-10g/day of EPA/DHA too much? I take in 2Tbs/day of Health From the Sunds Fish Oil, each Tbs has 4230mg EPA/DHA.

Shoul I cut my dose down to 1Tbs/day, or continue on using 2?

Fish oil is the most effective suppliment ont he market (which isn't saying much). Yes, most fish oil caps are salmon oil, which is what you want.

yeah i scratched my head over that one for a while, until I looked up salmon in my picture encyclopedia here, and realized salmon have gills and fins and shit and look just like a fish...in fact they are fish!

Agreed, on both points. I can't choke it down though, so have to stick with the gel caps.
