Ok, obviously a static bike is much better than running for gaining mass, but what about losing weight? Which is better?

I prefer the bike as it puts less impact on my body. Though running, especially sprint bursts is great for burning fat.

Burning fat is about increasing your heart rate for extended periods. Doesn't matter how you do it.

HIT Cardio

High-intensity cardio is #1 when it comes to burning fat. Especially in the AM before breakfast and after popping an ECA Stack. Great fat-burner. First thing in the morning Ill run sprints up this hill and walk back down. Ill only run maybe 8 which takes around 15 minutes but its definitely EXAUSTING. Really kills me. Trying to work up to 20 minutes and Ill stick with that.

high intensity cardio...

can be acheived on the bike as well as the treadmill. the main difference is that the bike is easy on my joints, doesn't get me out of breath, and allows me to burn more calories without killing myself. I go with the bike most of the time.

lighter cardio for longer perdiods of time is better for fat burning, correct me if i'm wrong

Hate to say it, but you are indeed mistaken.

Judging by results for fat loss, nobody holds a candle to Clarence "Ripped" Bass, and he recommends (and cites studies for) high-intensity sprinting sessions.
