rest between sets

I don't go by an exact time between sets. As soon as I catch my breath, I do my next set.

Just long enough to have a quick smoke.

Depends , obviously heavy squats or deads take more out of you than lateral raises or kick backs.

35 seconds to a minute... straight from Arnold's encyclepedia. :)
You must not have read the encyclopedia to closely.
A general rule for resting is usually 3-5 minutes for hard heavy lifting, 1-3 minutes for other lifts unless supersetting

I ususally rest until I feel necesary which is usually 60-80 seconds. But if you are trying to lose weight I think you should go about 20-35 seconds

not much at all- maybe 1 minute or so- more if theres a fine chick around =)....after every set i get up and either stretch the muscle, squeeze it, or goto the water fountain.....keeps my heart rate up and body warm...

I am training for mass, doing 6-10 reps.
I used to try 30sec - 1min... couldn't do it.
Especially when trying to do an increasing
pyramid with more weight on each new set.
(I don't try that anymore, even when doing sets.)
I either wait 1.5 - 2 minutes,
or I wait about 30 seconds and exercise a
different bodypart, alternating between 2
or 3 bodyparts. I do all my "sets" with
different exercises now (no 2 sets using
the same movement), so why not alternate?
It saves a lot of time and I can lift just as
much or more.
