refeed w/o water weight gain?

I thought I'd put this question out to you guys. A woman on another board (doing Atkins) reports she went off the diet for two days without a resulting water weight gain. In fact, she reports that the weight loss continued at a half pound each day. So what's occurring here? An undiagnosed diabetic?

when you cut carbs drastically most of the weight lost initally is fluid loss, when you reintroduce carbs back into your system as she did when she went off the diet her glycogen was stored in mher muscles which also contributed to water being stored. this is not a bad thing mind but to minimise too much unwanted water retention keepsodium levels lower on refeed days

I don't think I understand what you're saying, or you don't understand what I'm saying.
This is how it usually goes: Ketosis causes a big water weight loss during the first week as glycogen is expended. On the refeed (carbs reintroduced) glycogen is rapidly replaced. The glycogen carries three times it's weight in water.
At least that's the way it's supposed to work, but there is something different going on when there is NO weight gain.

Well, if I take everything at face value, to get a weight loss of 1/2 lb. per day she has to be eating pretty small to begin with. So maybe she never left ketosis. She'd have to be 1,725 calories below maintenance just to do that, so she'd basically be in starvation mode...
I guess more info would be helpful.
