Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Great job on eating clean for 6 weeks!!! That is awesome!

Bison, love it!! I think you were one of the first people here who suggested it to me almost a year ago. You and bison, now sbt and pumpkin LOL.

I knew there was a reason why I started to post! :heart:

We all learn from each other, it makes it more interesting ;)

I buy mine at whole foods ground up, at the meat counter. It's hard to buy on the weekend because everyone grocery shops and sometimes they run out of it.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Good morning Treilin!
Daaaayammm, 330 on deads! That's great:D

We have annual Buffalo round-ups here at an area called Custer State Park. Great idea you suggested as a sub for chicken:)

Legs and glutes are toasted!!! I feel a lot in my vastus lateralis superior aspect, glutes mostly medius and minimus, and hamstring attachments into the ischial tuberosity's.
Shoudlers are killing me from yesterday. I had arms and chest today. Triceps are already screaming.
At any rate I Pr'd my incline bench press at 140, my preacher curl at 85, and did 3 more unassisted dips then I did last week. So Finished strong ;)
New plan is put together and starts tomorrow. It will last 6 weeks.

Thanks for asking!

Hey Miss Flor and Badge;)

NOV 13 2006
Mood= tired, calm
Soreness = Upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, quads a little bit still (Sponge rolled them out yesterday so some deep tissue work soreness)
Weight 157.2

Food = 2200kcal

Tonight Hams and calves and glutes, oh my
We'll see what it's like this week in the start of the new 6 week program. It will end the day before X-mas, taking a week off then balls 2 the walls up till competition time. I'm getting excited already!

Pictures/taping/BF done yesterday. In 4 weeks BF dropped 2%, measures in the right places went up Chest, shoulders, hips/glutes, arms (not that they needed to and that is VERY limited arm work), and down an inch in the waist. Weight has gone up 6 pounds since the last time also. All those scared to up there calories in fear of getting fat... My calories went from 1800 prior to the 4 weeks for the last measures, and were at 2200 this time around. 40/30/30 at 1800 / 50/22/28 at 2200

Getting a new suit made for my competitions this next year I can't wait to see what it will look like on stage.

Flor = 90lbs is a great weight!!! I'm proud that you are doing them, just make sure form has to be on so your back doesn't get hurt!

Hidin= I knew you would like the descriptions, just 4 u, ha ha. 85lbs with ez bar

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Hey Beauty post pics...facial at least so we can see your tingling eyes!!!!
I am keeping good form on deads...Mostly everything I do with good form! I am terrible with triceps tho! I squeeze pecs/ my chest moves when I do rope..so strange! I think dips bench to bench & kick backs are the only ones I feel I isolate triceps! Any ideas?

I'll PM u one later :heart:

Try lying french curls aka. skull crushers or play with pushups using different hand positions feet elevations to burn them out...
If I have issues feeling stuff I either will compound set it or drop set it...
What are you doing for the rope?
You can alsu use the v looking bar attachment to do Triceps pull downs, or overhead tricep extension using the rope. Back to the cables, one foot out in front of the other bend upper body over , grip the rope and squeeze arms out. Keep elbows stationary and in. Try doing the rope push downs, and then the rope overhead extensions in a compound set back to back. Then you could do the the skull crushers compounded with close hand position push up heels elevated (advanced) if you can don't those try regular ones, or on your knees. You can always drop set those also start with your feet up, then drop the feet to the ground when you cannot get any more, then drop to your knees.
:)

Hi Treilin,
I was trying to come up with a new lifting plan and didn't know where to start. Flor mentioned your name when I was asking for help. I started reading your log. I decided to try the very first plan you posted on page one of your log. I hope that's okay with you. Some exercises listed I don't know but I'm doing my best to google and learn them.

I just wanted you to know you are my leg hero. Maybe one day, I can lift HALF as much as you! :heart:

Wow 170 some pages... I forgot where I started... I had to go look and see what I had even posted. The manual resistance on the legs you'll have to get somebody to help you or else you can substitue in the cables with ankle attachment. Let me know if you need any help with anything!
By the way that's what my log is also here for. To help people and for anyone who wants my 2 cents, lol, so copy away.

P.S. Flor I got the pics just waiting on the camera cord to make its way back to Michigan so I can upload them for ya.

NOV 14 2006

Mood= Calm
Soreness = Back, chest, shoulder, glutes, ham tightness
Weight = 156.8

Food = 2200 dropping some carbs today increasing fat.

No weights tonight, Did a.m. 25 minutes LSD (I'm not talking the drug either)

Notes =
New weight routine yesterday started. Going to do some minor tweaking, noticed a few instances where the knees were being little biatch's.
This was not as bad as I remembered in the past transitioning between these 2 phases. I think even though I only did 1 day of cardio it helped. In the past I didn't do any.

And my mom has lost 71 pounds now :)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

ha ha... really.. to me it doesn't feel like a lot. I don't know how to explain it.
I find I can do a LOT more weight just by closing my eyes, tuning into a hard song, and focusing specifically on the muscle. By closing your eyes you are taking one of your senses out which will heighten the affects of the other ones. At first you feel silly like everyone is probably watching you, but who gives a care?!? I don't recommend this on every exercise, do be smart. I actually was able to do this the first time this past week on SLDL's when I hit that PR, because my balance is on. Leg Press I have been doing that for a long time.
Let me know how your tri's feel :heart:

Hmmm hadn't actually thought about that. I typically journal my weights in my log I carry around, but if you would like I don't mind posting that up. I need to get through one week first to get my tweakage to it done and then I will. I won't be posting weight increases or anything because I'm to lazy... :lmao:

No joke right, another druggie here on the women's forum!!! :rolleyes:
Back is fine with the leg press. I had to tweak the one girl I'm training because she was going to low and activating the lower back so she kept ending up with back soreness. Ever since though she has been fine. Back is mostly due to just I have a crappy back. Cracked disc in the lumbar, and curve.. bleh.. Still not holding me back. Just sleep on a heating pad most nights and suck up the pain. Hot bath though tonight with epsom because I'm achey all over. How did your massage go? You got one this past weekend right?

Have a couple ideas and a suggestion from S :heart:

Sometimes with the leg press I catch myself start to arch the lower back, then I correct it but when I go heavy, I'll end up rolling my pelvis forward when Im trying to keep my glutes planted. They wont stay put either way! Maybe it's the the LP at my gyms but I wondered if you had a similar problem sometimes since I know you have built up your glutes or I am just built weird lol.

Massage was two weeks ago. It was too short but needed. It's kinda hard for me to go elsewhere when this woman knows every little bump, knot, imbalance, etc about me, plus we just vibe so well together. It's really kinda cool but it can break the bank if I go once a week, when I should be going 2 x a week during a strength run (you know exactly what Im talking about).
I need to get in a full body soon. Thanks for asking. :)

Yeah it depends on the leg press. Some press's are pretty much junk. Our gym has 5 all a bit different. I don't recall what the degree difference is between each of them.. hmmm. Let's see how to describe this...
If the focus is quads (lower foot) I don't have that much of an issue, when I used to do them for hams (high foot) position is where I would get into more trouble.
If I keep the seat at a 80 degree angle it seems that my pelvis wants to roll out from under me then triggering the lumbar muscles. If I adjust the seat so that it is more at a 45 degree angle that helps. I noticed when I was focused on leg positioning and breathing then my abs were not tight, then my low back would hurt. If the knees begin to flail open and I thought I was getting more ROM, but really I was going so deep that I was not activating the correct muscles through the range, and then again low back was activated. I started last year instead of full ROM doing Partial ROM so I would go 3/4 the way down and no way would the back be an intrical part. After I mastered the breathing, positioning, I began to do full ROM. Once I got the Full ROM, everything down, I began compounding the weight. I have Lyd (trainee) doing 3/4 right now, focusing more on technique, then trying to add lots of weight. She was going to deep and her legs were doing the flail thing and her seat was positioned straight up and down. She did that this past week with no lower back issues. I guess it can be more of a mind challenge to drop the weight and practice form for some people (like her) because you don't get the soreness necessarily that you would with going balls to the walls and obviously it's hard to get faster gains that way.... but in the long run the gains will be faster, more strength, better form, and help prevent injury. I even drop weights some weeks to half to just focus on form, I even dry run heavier lifts to warm the muscles up and also get the feel down before I stack them on.
To each his own...
Massage can be expensive! I'm fortunate enough to get them for free. I have 3 scheduled for this week! 1 thurs, 1 frid, and 1 sunday. the thursday and friday are with two of the state's best therapeutic modality therapists, and then sunday is with a student. So I should be sore after the first two and hopefully the student just smooths it over :lmao: We'll see....

Mom is doing well with her weight loss. Seven more pounds lost since her surgery bringing her to around twenty total. She is focusing on her diet, taking a good multi vitamin, plus omegas and Co-Q10 two or three times daily. Seems that the supps combined with a clean diet are helping her energy levels. She also says her appetite is surpressed a bit - I don't know if that was from the painkillers or the something else. Could it be the Co-Q10? (Or it could all be in her head. :) ) Anyway, I am glad she is taking it because she also has a leaky heart valve and it can't hurt.

She joined the YMCA with me (I just switched) and we can swim there together - She is pumped. But mixed emotions - very said that her oldest daughter is moving across country. I am just glad she did the surgery before I move! I want to tell her about you & your mom, too. It'll motivate the heck outta her.

Can't wait to see the suit. And I *love* reading about the massages. I go for a quick lymphatic massage next Wednesday.

The Co-Q10 many people would be suprised by the energy affects it has!
My mom is still taking her's also! I think I remember writing about my friend (doctor) who pretty much helped his dad recover off of CQ10 when the other docs had given up on him!?! He was crushing the tablets up and putting it in his dad's IV and within 24 hours after Congestive Heart Failure and given only a few hours to live he came back around and is still alive today. Dosage depends on what is going on. I know he upped the recommended alotment (which I forget now) and slowly weaned him back down after he got out of the hospital. People recovering from such issues like that will have a higher then normal amount. If anyone is interested I can find out the dosages again.
Maybe your mom will meet some friends at the pool that she can swim with! My mom finally has gotten out and is taking arts and crafts classes, and going shopping, and etc. (Dad's not to happy with her and her spending, :lmao: ) but needless to say she has a LOT more energy! She is still in Physical therapy, slowly starting to ride her recumbent bike, and is walking more. SBT and I laugh because she counts stairs everywhere she goes. One day I think she counted we did over 100... It's funny.
Hopefully your mom can find the passion again no matter how close or far you are :heart:

Weight = 156.8

Food = Trying to make sure 2200 cal gets eatin.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Beta blockers(heart rate modulators), blood pressure and statins(most) WILL lower COQ10 levels by up to 40%.

Cant hurt - might help....I think with some tinkering it could be the BEST anti-oxid on the planet.

NOV 16 2006
Mood = HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
Soreness= WOW suprised how much ham soreness I have still from monday. I really thought I needed to tweak that but maybe not?!? Lower ab soreness... this is a new one! Learning to mouse with my left hand is fun, right hand out of commision since deep work done on the forearm and it's all bruised up. Mostly due to overuse between weight lifting, massage, and well working at a computer all day long.
Weight = 158 (Discovered the Chinese Hot sauce does not agree with me.. Probably because Na content)

Food = 2200 cal's will hopefully hit that today. Have all my food but busy day.

Weights None tonight, DAY OFF ;)

Notes:
-Massage tonight, Saturday a.m., sunday p.m.
Tonight going to get hips and low back worked on, saturday think I'm going to get my neck, calves, feet worked on, and sunday doing the full body.
-Need to tweak back program from yesterday a tiny bit. Other then that it was good in and done in 1 hour working in with a partner!
-Posing session tomorrow night. Ordered a 2 DVD seminar on posing etc so hopefully that will be in to watch.
-Instructing muscle class tonight.. I forget what muscles I'm suppose to teach... Hmmm Oh well. and running the Student Clinic this weekend.
-I have been diligently working on drinking more H20! Bunny's log with her 2 gallons yesterday helped remind me to drink up :heart: So I may be posting up water intake just for myself because it's something I have been slacking on the past year.
-My stupid eye keeps twitching for 3 days now!!! Damn thing... Maybe I'll get my eye worked on.. yes there is actually massage done around the eye socket.

My arm has been acting up.. 3 days I have now switched the mouse to the other hand. Which doing this my head position has now changed the way I look at the computer. (My desk is so ergonomically 7%FYUF%$^%) So now I'm contracting the lateral rectus (outer muscle of the eye that helps you to see out the side of the eye) more often. That is the muscle that keeps going into spasm. So I think it's because I am using that particular muscle in a longer steady state contraction then I have prior. It was worse yesterday... today it's only done it like twice.
So that's what I think anyway...
Have you changed anything Roony that you can think of?

Okay, I've been trying to figure out this eye twitch business too. I have it from time to time on my left eye in the past 10 days and I don't know why. I don't think I'm stressed out at all & I've never had it before. Does it have anything to do with training?
My wife's eye has been twitching for the past coupla weeks. On & off. She's only been stressed tha last 23ish yrs, though. :lmao:

I could but my arm is still bruised all up and I have an icepack sitting on it to keep the inflammation down and speed healing. We'll see if it does the twitch thing today. It's funny because this guy noticed it, then me playing it off.. nah I was winking at ya, LOL, walking away stuck my finger in my eye and told it to stop being stupid.

Keep on me on the water!!! I downed 6 yesterday trying to get 6 to 8 now. 3 weeks ago I was lucky to get 2.5 qt's a day.. so 6-8 is like triple-quadrupling what I used to do ;)

Hi T!
What do you suggest for hip bursitis? I hsve had it for the longest time...I was born with a defective hip tendon...it jumps...and now I am in pain, might also be arthritis because it acts up with cold...ay ay ay..should I get a shot of diprospan? a glucocorticosteroid

Personally IMO if you can treat yourself to relieve pain without injecting yourself you would be 1,000 times better off. The shots are only temporary relief. If you actually treat the affected muscles, or muscles affecting the area and get into some sort of regimen you would be far better off. Bursitis I would ice it. Like I told CK.. 20 minutes of ice, 20 minutes of heat (the heat part you don't have to do), and then stretch the muscles.
Defective hip tendon? Tendon to what muscle? is it on the outside of the upper leg, and it feels like it snaps over something?
Start stretching all parts of the hip.. ie. Hamstring stretch, Piriformis stretch, seated butterfly stretch, quad stretch, ITB stretch, Glute stretch,Quadratus Lumborum stretch, back extensor stretch. You can google all those pick the ones you like and then do those every day maybe even twice a day. Once when you wake up to warm the muscles up, and once at night to basically stretch them out from being contracted all day long.
If you know you are going to do HIIT training or lots of lower body activity I would automatically go home and ice to help prevent chronic pain and decrease inflammation. You can also take like Ibuprofen to assist (but I don't rely on those things or else you seem to get immune to them).

Hey Miss Will :wavey: You can rhyme any time ;)

Ilk :heart: Nothing but love (thanks 4 the tips )

Hey JP.. Studying is going so-so.. Trying to fit it in here and there!!!

Sweet! I use BioFreeze. Supposed to have to be registered to obtain the stuff but I saw them selling it at the Arnold last year. I also use Arnica and Sombra.

NOV 22 2006
Mood= Great (Thank Goodness not crusty today I can't stand to be around myself when I'm like that but for some reason I can't get away from myself either, err)
Soreness= Chest, back, hams, quads a bit tight
Weight = 158

Food = Food

Weights WAYYYYYY tonight like 10ish will be back and abs

Notes:
-Going to get my recert for CPR and First Aid this evening at the Fire house :qt: Only reason I'm not dreading sitting for 3 or so hours Muhaaaa
-Water intake has been going good. Minimum of 5 qt's-8qts a day. Even if I am chugging before bed to get it in :lmao: right SBT
-Noticed hunger peaked yesterday evening. I ate food earlier then normal.. less spacing so I think that is why.

Have a great Turkey Day tomorrow who all that applies 2 ;)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Yayyy for being in a great mood :elephant: I totally know what you mean about hating feeling crabby but not being able to help it!

Good luck for the re-cert tonight. I'm sure you'll do just fine! :rose:

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

NOV 24 2006
Mood = Good
Soreness= none
Weight= 160.2 ( a new record ever)

Turkey day. I so did not eat enough yesterday. I ate only 1700 calories roughly, all CLEAN. Last couple days holding water I think salt increased in some of the foods which is causing that. So today trying to limit NA content. Water intake has been good though so I know I'm getting enough at least 6 qt's a day ;)

Today same as always as far as food.

Weight quads and calves tonight!

Notes:
-Just a busy weekend of studying and bro and family visiting with me.
-CPR course was the best one I ever took. The courses are getting a lot better then I have taken in the past. More hands on. They play a video and you have a dummy and then they show like an incident and scene on the DVD then they give you time for you to react to the situation. I also got trained on AED useage those are really easy to use. They say they are idiot proof but honestly I think they would give some people a hard time to follow the directions accurately. Needless to say.. I am re-certified ;)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

i tried to get a gig a few years ago as a "dummy" in a female lifeguard cpr course...i had a problem floating so i got showed the door
