R-ALA is it really worth the extra money?

Ok Ladies and gentlemen,
I may ruffle some feathers here but I was just curious. If R-ALA is so good why haven't other companies starting to produce it. To me this seems quite strange that if a product is that good how come other supplement companies haven't jumped on the band wagon and it really seems to be over emphasised here and not one other boards. THis is just an observation not meant to offend any one by any means.

Thanks

No offense taken, you are about the 150th person to ask.
There are only two companies in North America that offer an r-ALA, AF and AOR. There are people buying a Chinese version that is 80% R and 20% S (which means it's racemic) and you will see more and more of them on the boards claiming they have R-ALA for dirt cheap prices. They are already on other boards.

Why the big companies passed on it...

The process to make it is patented so if they made it themselves they would be sued by the Asta Medica the patent holder. Asta Medica has petitioned the FDA to make it prescription only so they don't want it sold as a supp.

The cost of making it is 10 times what it costs to make the racemic that everyone has been using. This is because if it's not handled correctly it changes from a powder to a "mass of yellow waxy material" as it was described by one lab. Handling it is very time consuming and expensive.

They are already knee deep in racemic ALA. People buy the racemic now. Why go to all the trouble of bringing r-ALA to market when you will only make it harder to sell the first product.

"it really seems to be over emphasised here and not one other boards. "

The only reason for it's emphysis on this board is that Anabolic Fitness chose this board to release it on and this board to gather feedback on the product from. This was the testing ground. You will see many product over the next couple years that are only talked about here. This is a great place for Anabolic Fitness to test market their products and get instant feedback.

they dont sell it. and the only person that posts that they do (not smokinghawk) works for them and the only thing he posts is links to their site.. which makes up almost all of his 40 or 50 posts..

OK, Fonz, as you can imagine I have a few questions about your ALA trial.......

First one is what was your baseline response to the carb challenge (108g carbs without any ALA), what were the time points you measured, and what did you eat for the other meals of the day, when do you train, are you dieting, bulking or maintaining, are you using any gear (and how much)......That will do for starters.

Also, do you have the raw data for the two methods of glucose measurement for each test? Plus or minus 10% is a pretty big variance when you're looking at such small differences in blood glucose change.

Oh, and what was the carb source?
