Question on "Carb Cycling"

Hi All,

A bit of background - was very overweight, lost it all (around 3 years ago) and have been slowly building up since. Through about a year of experimentation I found my body to be fairly carb sensitive, and thus the current carb and calorie intakes are at maintenance levels with carb levels perhaps lower than some would be taking in. Thus days of 150g carbs are what I would call medium.

I follow a modified carb-cycling approach. I train 4x a week (Mo, Tu, Th, Fr). Training days are medium carbs (1g/lbs = 150g carbs, taken in at breakfast, PWO and PPWO) and non-training days are around 50g carbs, at breakfast.

The caloric intake is at maintenance levels - ie. I am not in a caloric deficit. My question is: should I incorporate a high-carb day even though there is no caloric deficit on other days? If so, should this day be purely high carb (eat the same amount of calories but coming mainly from carbs) or should it be both high carb and higher-than-normal calories?

I was thinking of having a high carb day - where I get my cals from mainly carbs, but not going over maintenance levels in total for the day. I do not want increase overall caloric intake above maintenance as the goal is not really to bulk.

So in terms of amounts it would be something like this:
Mon - 150g (medium) + train
Tue - 150g (medium) + train
Wed - currently 50g (low), thinking of making it around 300-400g (high) but keeping total caloric intake at maintenance levels
Thu - 150g (medium) + train
Fri - 150g (medium) + train
Sat - 50g (low) + rest
Sun - 50g (low) + rest

Any suggestions to alter/improve it??

Regards,
X
