Question about mini bands and squat

I'm not training for powerlifting but this is still relevant :)

With the powerack at my gym, the only place I can loop the bands around are the safety pins.

This means the band tension is gonna be less than if it were at the bottom. So I thought maybe if I just get a set of mini bands and loop it around twice over the bar. Would this work? So it would be more or less the same tension as a light band?

You can anchor the bands to a couple heavy hex dumbells. Or if your gym doesn't have hexes, I've even had success anchoring them by running them under a couple 45lb plates.

If you double minis for squat they'll stretch out really fast.

is the rack bolted to the floor? if not why not lift one side and throw the band under the cross bar on the bottom of the rack?

I think its bolted. It ain't moving :)

Guess I'll use dumbells, but not sure I'm so keen in dragging 2x 100lb dumbells some 30 metres to the power rack - guess I could work my grip ala farmer's walk while I'm at it :spit:

Crimson - you work out at home alone right?
So when you adjust the tension of the bands, do you just squat the empty bar back onto the power rack uprights?

I loop the band under my rack by lifting each side then I attached it to the bar that is loaded on the hooks after loading it with weight. Sometimes it takes two hands to stretch the band to the bar!:D
