Q's about glucophage, glucose reading's,& quik ketosi

I've been taking Glucophage for 2 mth's...

I'm on lo-carb but not in ketosis, yet still eating the hi-fat, therefore I need to get into ketosis fast.

My diet will consist of mod. fat protein foods and maybe a salad thrown in...

How can I get into ketosis quicker using Glucophage,
some one with knowledge please explain..

Also, when muscles are already beyond full, (Glucophage as a disposal agent) where is the glucose disposed of in the urine or the fat cells?

I have a nifty electronic Glucometer....

In the morning (no glucophage taken, and out of system)
reading is...84 mg/dl.

After the gym (Ripped fuel taken, on an empty stomach)
reading is....93 mg/dl

Took one 850mg. Glucophage 45 min. before eating...
Hi-fat,lo-carb meal (stuffed, I also had nuts) checked
blood sugar 1 or 2 hrs. after eating and the reading was...76 mg/dl.

Can anyone help me with this or tell me what they think about it? Please?

I'm a little confused. Are you on a keto diet right now, or just about to start one. If your on a keto diet right now then what %fat to %protein are you eating. You may easily be eating too much protein/not enough fat. You may have too many carbs in your diet. Glucometers are not particularly accurate either so you could be 10-15% either side of the reading it gives you. How do you FEEL?? In other words do you feel like you're in ketosis?

Glucophage may help you enter ketosis on several fronts. It inhibits glucose production in the liver. It also inhibits uptake of glucose from the intestines, but this should not be an issue for you if you're not eating carbs. It also increases peripheral uptake of glucose from the blood independant of insulin which is particularly relevant for entering ketosis. However I would caution against using metphormin once you've entered ketosis. If you do a carb up you should also consider using metphormin to increase insulin sensitivity/glucose uptake since short term keto diets usually blunt your insulin sensitivity.

I'm doing Low carb now, but I'm not in ketosis.

I feel like shit 'cause I've been eating very high fat and moderate carbs...at 1,510 calories per day, I'm getting 45 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbs., and 130 grams of FAT....I bought two containers of all natural Peanutbutter and I have a total addiction, I didn't realize it would keep me out of ketosis the way it has.

So, since I'll feel bad if I just toss it in the trash, I eat it at all two of my meals mixed w/ heavy cream, coconut and almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts (NO SWEETENER).
After 2 1/2 days I'm truly sick of PB and it's in the trash.

Now, today I start my keto diet....this A.M. I've taken my Glucophage. Yes, when I do reach ketosis I will stop taking glucophage. I take nothing else at this time as I feel badly manipulating my body w/ a medication I don't even need.

I will be consuming baked Salmon, baked chicken parts,
boiled eggs and the occasional salad w/ olive oil and feta. At the Taverna's they sell marinated octopus and sword fish kabobs, very good...so there it is and I so appreciate your help as always.

Well I gotta say the diet you've been on is the strangest thing I've heard yet. How come the protein is so low and the fat so high? Just very curious...

Peanut butter and nuts don't have all that much protein.
Heavy cream has none.

It's high fat because peanutbutter, nuts, and heavy cream are high fat foods.... :D

Plus, they are gone in the trash...I've started ketoing
(not a word, I know).

The foods I'm eating now are the ones I listed in the last post and also I'm taking Glucophage to speed the decent...

No more PB for me.

First, it only takes about three-five days to get into ketosis. Second, I'd get off the ripped fuel because it will make you less sensitive to insulin and counteract the effects of the glucophage to some extent. Third, if you're not diabetic, you don't need the glucophage for ketosis and you should get off of it. Right before you start the keto diet, go through a very hard weight workout followed by a long session of low intesity cardio- slow walking for an hour to hour and a half for example. You will then be primed for ketosis but be careful of your blood sugar levels dropping too far to fast and passing out- SAFETY FIRST, good luck- AD

I am not diabetic, Anabolic Diabetic, but the first month I started taking it I felt better as far as stable blood sugars i.e. no falling asleep after a carb meal.

I noticed fuller muscle, some growth..and the ability to eat more carbs.

Now I feel guilty, like it's not right to take something that you don't need to take....I mean what if when I go off of Glucophage, then my body's like "hey where is our glucophage" and then, own it's own, my body will not work the way it should w/ out the glucophage....do you get what I'm trying to say?

I NEED my ripped ONLY once a day before the gym, 4 x's a week.

Yesterday I had a 2 hour every body part workout.
Today I did the same thing. It actually felt very good even though I pushed it hard the day before and I had no food in my tummy, but I just had broiled salmon and a multi-vit....so I'm cool.

I'm afraid I'll get into ketosis w/ the glucophage, then I'll stop taking it and then I'll not be in ketosis anymore unless I continue w/ the glucophage....I will just have to see won't I.

Oh, thank you for your concern.

It actually sounds like you may be hypoglycemic based on what you said. If this is the case, there are specific dietary changes you can make to take care of your blood sugar fluctuations. I understand your need for the ripped fuel but this really is not something that is going to be good for you long term so you might as well find a way to jump off the train. I suggest going to an endocrinologist who will be able to get you stabilized and going in a more healthy direction-AD

I'm going for a full thyriod panel soon and a blood test...
I want to know how my cholesterol is.

How come you are against the ripped fuel, besides it causing insulin-insensitivity???

Y eah, I knew I was hypo-glycemic...just afraid it had gone into type 2 diabetes(non-insulin dependant).

I may as well get that tested for also...while I'm their getting the other tests.

The endo sounds like a good idea.

Thanks....
