Push up's - question

How do you guys do your push ups -if you any of u do 'em??
I do 'em with my whole body flat and my hands touching to make a diamond shape .i do 1 set of 50 when i start and 1 set of 50 when i finsh a workout.

put your feet on a stability ball and get some core stability training. old school iron vs. performance enhancement training. i do both.

I like to do them a few hours after a chest work out (even if it is just before bed)
Or the day after.
Just to get the blood flowing through and try and increase my General Physical Preparedness (sort of like what they do at west side barbell)
I only do 2 sets of 12 (I dont want to strain my self or rework the muscle too much so i keep the reps low (for push ups))

I usually do i sholder width and flat to the floor.

I can barely do any after a good chest workout I'm so beat.

The only time I like to do some is to get the blood flowing a bit before a workout or, if I takeing creatine a 1/2 before I hit the gym, feel like getting a little pump helps show the creatine where I want it to go :)

after a chest workout, or any workout i generally just want some glucose :)

but when i dont train weight i have to do em, either on my knuckles or flat palmed, fairly wide apart feet close up. the stability ball sounds interesting though. if only my gym werent so cheap ass :(

HulRow, if you can do 50 diamond push-ups with correct form like you described you should have sufficient strength to do a lower number of more taxing push-ups. Have you tried one-handed push-ups? They rule as far as I am concerned. If you are trying to put on muscle onto your chest your main gains will come from using free weights, not push-ups.

hardgainer (now drop and give me 20)

Try pushing yourself off the floor on each rep so that you can clap your hands before you land . . . good for generating POWER :p

;););)

I dont know I personally have never been all that into push-ups but an ex-navy seal from my gym swears by pullups, dips, and pushups EVERY single day no matter what. He said non-weight exercises you can do everyday. I dont personally agree with him but the guy is HUGE and completely natural so he has to have some idea what hes talking about.

He trains his forearms ONE day a week with weight and every other day with those forearm gadgets. His forearms are the size of bowling pins so I dont know. Genetics I guess because his muscles really dont get too much recovery time.

i also do pushups everyday, what people don't understand is that even tho pushups work the chest delts and tris, their being work differantly,,think about this, when u workout with weights say bench press or shoulder press only ur arms are moving,,when u do bent over rows,,or upright rows, only ur arms are moving however when u do a chin or pushups ur arms are still and ur whole body is moving threw space,,it's harder on ur muscles and hits it differanlly thats why my friend that the squats are so damn taxing cause in the exserse ur legs are still and u have to press ur body weight PLUS the weight on ur shoulders!! thats why also the chinups are much better than machine pull downs for the same reasons sure a man can bench press 300lbs but ask a 300lb man how many pushups he can do if its more than 10reps than thats strenth,,,,the pushups are number one in my book,,,,,,i'm done,,,

Try push-ups with arms wide apart (usual bench press width), then arms next to your body pushing more with your tris, hands together ("close grip"). Try push-ups with a clap or push-ups between the chairs, Lowering yourself as low as you can get. Or make push-ups while standing on your hands - more like a shoulder training...
