Pull ups good exercise?

[FONT=&quot]I noticed veins when doing pull ups, must be a good exercise. Just bought one of those things you hang onto the door. What does a pull up really do, does it stretch the torso to appear longer or what?[/FONT]

It is a great exercise that strengthens your biceps, lats, back, shoulders, forearms, etc.
 
pullups are great for what PON mentioned. i like to always start a workout doing like 30 of them in a row with a weighted belt as a warmup. however if you over do it you can get injured so be careful and build your way up
