Protein Powders Are Way Over-rated

Question: Have any of you guys tried training with no, or at least less protein shakes in your daily intake?

I have dropped all my shakes for the last 5 weeks and can truly say my gains have not suffered. In fact I have become leaner!
I now only consume a Casein/Whey mix before bed.
OK my diet is good and clean, but I don't think people realise Protein powders are not what they're made out to be.

Conclusion: If you eat clean and sufficiently you simply do not need to waste your money on the shakes.

What do you all think?

I like a high quality whey isolate protein powder around workout times as it is rapidly digested and will quickly replenish depleted amino acids but protein supplements aren't magic. They are just a convenient and cost effective way to meet your body's daily protein requirements. If you work out the cost of serving of protein powder verses whole food, it's about haft the cost.

The problem with protein powders is that the majority of the products on the market are absolute crap. Pretty much everyday amother company gets caught not meeting label claims on their protein supplements. Even the big brands like ON.

I personally use use isolation from n2bm.com. I trust the company completely and have noticed a positive difference switching to that product from other brands.

As Muskate said they are just convenient. I don't think people that know what's up think they are over rated. Most know it is just food. It is just an easy and sometimes tasty quick way to fill your protein needs. I love mixing it with oatmeal ad blueberries for some tasty overnight oats. It is mostly kids or people brand new to lifting that buy into the "Protein powder will make you ripped" and buy into there is something magical about it. Bottom line it is food.

Take into consideration that most of protein powders are of a lower quality than the protein from milk or eggs. They are not magic supplements. Just a highly concentrated food.
